Biscyclopentadienyl transition metal complex is new. Biscyclopentadienyl transition metal complex of formula (I) is new. M1 = group 3,4,5 or 6 element; X = H, halo, 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 6-22C aryl, 1-10C alkyl(1-6C aryl), 1-6C aryl(1-10C alkyl), -OR6 or -NR6R7; n = oxidation number of M1 - 2 ranging from 1-4; R1, R3, R4 and R8 - R11 = H or 1-40C radical; R2 = optionally substituted 6-40C (hetero)aryl radical containing at least one of O, N, S or P; R2+R3 = ring system; R5 = 1-40C radical; and Z = -C(R8)(R9)C(R10)(R11)-. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) biscyclopentadienyl ligands of formula (II) or its double bond isomers; (2) a catalyst system (S1) for polymerizing olefins comprising (I) and at least as cation forming compound co-catalyst; and (3) preparing (I) involving reacting (II) or its bisanion with a transition metal compound.
