Abstract

A tablet of compacted particulate detergent composition comprises a non-soap surfactant, detergency builder, a matrix material and disintegrant granules. The granules comprise a water-insoluble inorganic material, a water-swellable agent and water-swelling clay. The granules and/or the matrix material comprise STS and SCS. An independent claim is also included for manufacture of tablet of compacted particulate detergent composition, which involves mixing disintegrant granule comprising a water-swelling clay, a water-insoluble inorganic material and a water swellable agent and optionally the STS and/or SCS with the other constituents of the detergent composition, optionally comprising the STS and/or SCS to produce a particulate detergent composition comprising STS and/or SCS, placing resultant particulate detergent composition within a mold and compacting the composition within the mold to produce the tablet.
