Abstract

The machine has a cross-cut saw (9), and a cradle (7) for receiving a bundle of logs. A support plate (8) is provided at proximity of the cradle to align the logs. The cradle is moved by tilting around a horizontal axis, between an alignment position in which the length of the log is aligned by the support plate and a cutting position in which the cross-cut saw cuts the logs into billets. An independent claim is also included for a method of cutting billets of wood from a bundle of logs.
