Die Fig. i, 2 und 3 der beiliegenden Zeichnung zeigen einen verstellbaren Schraubenschlüssel, bei dem die Verstellung der Maulweite durch Verschiebung der Backe α in der schlitzförmigen Oeffhung des Schaftes c hervorgebracht wird. Die Backe b ist am Kopfende in die Oeffnung des Schaftes eingesteckt und mit diesem fest verbunden. Der untere Theil des Schaftes c ist mit Gewinde versehen und seiner ganzen Länge nach durchbohrt. Durch diese Bohrung geht eine Stange d, welche mit einem Ende in die Backen α eingeschraubt ist und an dem anderen Ende eine Scheibe e trägt, mit welcher die Stange in dem auf dem unteren Theile des Schaftes aufgeschraubten Griffe/ sitzt. Bei Drehung des Griffes / nach der einen oder anderen Richtung wird also durch die Stange d die in dem Schaftschlitz gleitende Backe α gegen die Backe b bewegt oder von derselben entfernt nnd dadurch die Verstellung der Maulweite des Schlüssels hervorgebracht.FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 of the accompanying drawings show an adjustable wrench in which the adjustment of the mouth width is brought about by shifting the jaw α in the slot-shaped opening of the shaft c . Bei den bisher fabricirten verstellbaren Schraubenschlüsseln ist nach Angabe des Erfinders die Verstählung der Backen sehr umständlich und mit vielen Schwierigkeiten verbunden. Bei der vorliegenden Construction werden die Backen aus Stäben hergestellt, auf welche schon beim Walzen ihrer ganzen Länge nach eine Stahllage aufgewalzt wird. Um die fertigen Backen im Schlüssel anzubringen, wird der mit der schlitzförmigen Oeffhung versehene Kopf des Schaftes bis zur Rothglut erwärmt und die Oeffnung so viel erweitert, dafs die Backen eingestellt werden können.
