Abstract

The packing comprises a tray (10) to hold a sliced foodstuff (30) laid in shingle fashion, and a lid (20) which is at least partially transparent sealing off the tray and its contents. The tray is constructed in step form in the shingle direction, with the depth of the steps corresponding to the thickness of the food slices. The tray may have a saw-tooth profile with the steps rising from a common level.
