Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a workstation of a textile machine producing cross-wound bobbins, comprising an open-ended spinning device for producing a thread and a bobbin device for producing a cross-wound bobbin, wherein the open-ended spinning device is equipped with a fibrous strip release unit, the release roller of which comprises an individual electromotor drive. The invention proposes that the motor current (i) for the electromotor drive (31) of the release roller (27) be monitored and that the presence or absence of a feed fiber (15) in the region of the release roller (27) be determined from the measured value of the power drain of the drive (31).
