Description
Oxidation of nitrogen oxides to nitric acid In the course of the working method for the production of nitric acid from nitrogen oxides, especially those the ammonia oxidation, it was found that it is not necessary to use the nitrogen oxide-containing Gases all the way through their absorption in the form of bubbles by the absorption liquid to suck or squeeze, but that it is sufficient if one has the absorption partly in the usual sprinkling towers with loose filling and partly through distribution of the gases in the form of bubbles within the absorption liquid. This division the absorption has the advantage that you can work with less effort, .by looking at the resistance that the absorption liquids have to the gases in their Distribution in opposed, reduced and at the same time extensive and rapid Absorption achieved. It turned out that it is advisable to use the fresh gases which are most rich in oxides of nitrogen and which are absorbed in irrigation towers and further absorption by dividing the gases: to absorb in bubble form.
-tetroxyd überführen, was die sogenannte saure Absorption erschwert. The absorption of nitrogen oxides is of particular importance by distributing the gases to form bubbles within the absorption liquid, when it comes to the absorption of the last fractions of nitrogen oxides by means of alkaline Solutions or basic absorbent acts. Lets in these last proportions It is well known that nitric oxide changes very slowly in spite of the presence of oxygen convert into nitrogen dioxide or tetroxide, which is called acidic absorption difficult. One is therefore forced to switch to alkaline absorption, which enables the nitrogen oxide to form with the oxygen to form NZOg of nitrous acid salts.
While in the case of the alkaline treatment of the gases within Irrigation towers must give these, very considerable dimensions and still the If the absorption is not yet satisfied, the absorption goes into the distribution of the gases Bubble shape within the alkaline absorption liquid almost quantitative and quickly in front of you.
Even when using concentrated sulfuric acid for the final absorption, around nitrogen oxide in the presence of oxygen in the form of nitrosylsulphuric acid To bind, large absorption towers are necessary, while in working according to The present method only requires very little space.
In the course of the work it was found that one can both become an almost complete absorption of the nitrogen oxide-containing gases as well as to a higher concentration the nitric acid gets when the gases richest in nitrogen oxides are put in front of it absorption in sprinkling storms and in the form of bubbles above absorption liquid cords conducts whose surfaces are only moved slowly. This is especially true for the oxides of nitrogen obtained by the oxidation of ammonia. While at the absorption described is 45 to 55 percent nitric acid, is obtained when passing over the nitrogen oxide containing 6 volumetric centimeters upwards Gases through absorption liquids that are only in slight movement over 55 percent Nitric acid. It was found that the tension of the in stronger acids contained nitric acid monohydrate is lower when the acid is possible is at rest or in slow motion. This absorption can occur in apparatus known type.
Analogously, the described working methods with hypothermia can also be used both the absorption liquids and the grasses can be worked.
