Der aus gufseisernen Platten hergestellte innere Heizraum wird durch einen aus Gufsplatten hergestellten Mantel, welcher unten mit Oeffnungen versehen ist, derart umkleidet, dafs der Zwischenraum, welcher wieder durch kleine Querleisten getheilt ist, sehr eng wird. Der Zwischenraum steht mit einem über demselben befindlichen Sammelkasten A in Verbindung, welcher seinerseits wieder mit dem unter dem Roste befindlichen Sammelkasten B durch die langen schmalen Kästen k k communicirt.The inner heating space made of cast iron plates is covered by a jacket made of cast iron plates, which is provided with openings at the bottom, in such a way that the space, which is again divided by small transverse strips, becomes very narrow. Diese Ergänzung geschieht derart, dafs die Zimmerluft durch die unten befindlichen, mit Schieberregulirung versehenen Schlitzöffnungen des Mantels eintritt und in dem Zwischenräume bis zum Sammelraume A emporsteigt, wobei sie durch die vorstehenden Querleisten gezwungen wird, die Wandungen dicht zu berühren und sich auf diese Weise zu erhitzen. Hier wird sie, der saugenden Wirkung des Feuers Folge gebend, gezwungen, in den schmalen Kästchen k abwärts in die Sammelkasten B sich zu bewegen, um von hieraus durch die Schlitzöffnungen zum Roste und danach als Rauch durch das Rauchrohr R in den Schornstein zu gelangen.As soon as the fire is lit and the heating and ash doors are airtight, the fire burns the air under the grate, which must be replenished with fresh air. Die Wärme ist, weil sie nicht unmittelbar wirkt, nicht so stechend als bei gewöhnlichen gufseisernen Oefen, und die Kosten der Heizung sind verhältnifsmäfsig nicht grofs, weil bereits erhitzte Luft zur Speisung des Rostes verwendet wird.
