Diese ist um eine wagerechte, quer zur Fahrtrichtung stehende Achse x-y drehbar. Hinter der Glühbirne ist in dem Scheinwerfergehäuse (nicht gezeigt), welches von bekannter Konstruktion sein kann, ein Spiegel d angeordnet. Der eine Längsteil c' der Glühbirne ist versilbert. Die Drehung der Birne kann auf elektromagnetischem Wege, durch einen Bowdenzug oder auf sonst geeignete Weise erfolgen. Bei Vollbeleuchtung (Abb. i) liegt der versilberte Teil c' der Glühbirne hinten und ergänzt den Paraboloidspiegel, indem die versilberte Fläche c sich an die Spiegelfläche des Paraboloidspiegels a anschließt. Soll für Stadtbetrieb abgeblendet werden, so wird die Birne um go° gedreht, so daß die versilberte Hälfte c' der Glühbirne oben liegt. Hierdurch werden alle Strahlen, sowohl die direkten als auch die von dem Paraboloidspiegel a und dem Spiegel d reflektierten, nach unten geworfen, während keine Strahlen nach oben gehen. In beiden Stellungen der Glühbirne wirkt der Silberbelag als Reflektor, während er in der letztgenannten Stellung noch die Abblendung nach oben bewirkt.
