Description
Verfahren zur Entfernung von Eisenverunreinigungen aus Natur- und Kunstprodukten aller Art.Process for removing iron contaminants from natural and Art products of all kinds.
So z. There are natural or artificial products in which the iron content is for further processing is undesirable. So z. B. bauxite, barite, gypsum, limestone, Magnesite, metal slag, ashes and more. The removal of iron impurities is often associated with great costs and difficulties. One way is inter alia. the, to convert the iron oxide into metallic iron by reduction with carbon oxide and to separate them magnetically. It is essential that the iron is under Exclusion of air cools so that it does not become pyrophoric and burn again in the air.
In the previously known methods of iron reduction with Carbon oxide, which is produced from coal or coke, has not been taken into account, that the sulfur content of this carbon oxide forms a non-magnetic sulfur iron, that cannot be removed by the magnet.
It has now been found that sulphurous carbon dioxide can be used Cooling and washing can free of sulfur compounds. One cleaned with such Carbon dioxide reduced iron gives pure metal, which can be removed with the magnet can.
Of course, with this purification of the carbon monoxide, the generator heat goes away lost.
Therefore, the process takes direct advantage of the generator heat easier if charcoal is burned in the generator to produce carbon dioxide, which is known to be technically sulfur-free. With this production method, that is Carbon oxide is naturally sulfur-free and can be heated directly without any cleaning or cooling can be passed over the materials to be reduced. Because about this Process any waste of charcoal meal can be used is simultaneous given a favorable recovery for this inferior and cheap charcoal.
For example, charcoal is burned to carbon dioxide in a generator and passed through a hot retort containing ferrous bauxite. The temperature must be kept so low that the iron does not sinter. After this all carbon dioxide has escaped, the reduction is complete. The retort is under Cooled in the absence of air.
Then the sulfur-free iron can be removed by the action of a magnet removed.
PATENT CLAIMS: I. Process for removing iron contaminants from natural and artificial products of all kinds through reduction with carbon oxide and magnetic Treatment of the reduced material after cooling in the absence of air, thereby characterized that the carbon monoxide by cooling and washing of sulfur compounds is released.
