Das auf beiliegender Zeichnung dargestellte Ventil ist ein sogenanntes Selbstschlufsventil und wird bei demselben der Schlufs durch ein an einem Hebel wirkendes Gewicht herbeigeführt. In fester Verbindung mit dem abschliefsenden Ventil steht ein in einem geschlossenen Cylinder befindlicher, durchbrochener Kolben, welcher nach einer Richtung saugt, nach der anderen drückt. Diesem Kolben fallt die Aufgabe zu, den Schlufs des Ventils nur mit einer geringen Geschwindigkeit zu gestatten, welcher Zweck auch durch den Zeitaufwand zum Verdrängen des angesaugten Wassers erreicht wird. Der Schlufs des Ventils kann nicht blos durch ein Gewicht, sondern auch durch eine Feder, oder durch den Wasserdruck selbst ausgeübt werden.The valve shown in the accompanying drawing is a so-called self-closing valve and the conclusion is brought about by a weight acting on a lever.
