Verfahren zum Abdichten von Erddämmen. Erddämme, die ein Wasserbecken abschließen, werden in der Weise wasserundurchlässig gemacht, daß auf die vom Wasser bespülte Seite eine Lehmschicht aufgebracht und festgestampft wird. Eine solche Schicht muß eine Dicke von etwa io bis 3o cm haben, damit eine ausreichende dichtende Wirkung erzielt wird. Diese ist überdies in weitgehendem Maße von der Sorgfalt der Ausführung abhängig. Die Kosten einer solchen Dichtung sind verhältnismäßig hoch, weil erhebliche Arbeitslöhne gezahlt werden müssen und hohe Gewinnungs- und Förderkosten für die zu verarbeitenden Lehmmengen hinzukommen. Trotz der starken Lehmschicht ist das Entstehen schwacher Stellen nicht ausgeschlossen, die unter Umständen zu Wasserdurchbrüchen Anlaß geben können.Method for sealing earth embankments. Der Lehm wird hierbei unter großem Druck gegen die Erdunterlage gespritzt, dringt in deren Poren ein und zieht sie zum Teil mit zur Dichtung heran. Es hat sich nun gezeigt, daß man mit unerwartet geringen Mengen Lehm auskommen kann und trotzdem eine zuverlässige Abdichtung erzielt. Die Ersparnis an Lehm und die an Förderkosten dafür sind bedeutend; ebenso wird an Arbeitslöhnen erheblich gespart. Die auf die Lehmschicht aufgebrachte Betonschicht hat den Zweck, eine Beschädigung der ersteren durch Wasserbewegungen zu verhindern. Sie erfüllt diesen Zweck bei einer Stärke von z bis 5 cm. Zweckmäßig wird die Betonschicht möglichst im unmittelbaren Anschluß an das Aufbringen der Lehmschicht gleichfalls mit Hilfe des Spritzverfahrens hergestellt, um die erstere gegen ein Trocken- und Rissigwerden zu schützen, wenngleich die Gefahr bei der geringen Wandstärke der Lehmschicht nicht allzu groß ist.
