Verfahren zum flächenhaft - beispielsweise durch Schweißen oder Kle­ ben - erfolgenden Verbinden eines Abdeckbandes mit Stofflagen zu bei­ den Seiten des Nahtüberstandes einer die Stofflagen miteinander ver­ bindenden, als Fadennaht ausgebildeten Kantennaht, dadurch gekenn­ zeichnet, daß das Abdeckband (A) vor der Verbindungsstelle zu einer den Nahtüberstand (U) unter Bildung eines Zwischenraumes (Z) umgeben­ den im wesentlichen U-förmigen Falte (F) mit zu den Stofflagen (S 1, S 2) im wesentlichen parallel gerichteten Endbereichen (E 1, E 2) geformt wird und daß während des Verbindens der Endbereiche (E 1, E 2) des Ab­ deckbandes (A) mit den Stofflagen (S 1, S 2) im Zwischenraum (Z) ein das Abdeckband (A) vom Nahtüberstand (U) trennendes Luftpolster erzeugt wird. 1.
