Abstract

1. A method for covering the lateral faces (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) of a load (2) with a strip of plastics film from a film roll (4) in which the load (2) is placed on a supporting table (6) ; the front free end portion (3a) of the strip of film (3) is held and associated with the load (2) ; the load is displaced relatively on the support table (6) with respect to the film roll (4) in order to place the strip of film (3) on the lateral faces of the load (2) ; the strip of film (3) is out transversely and the free outermost end portion (36) of the film is joined to its median portion (3b) covering the load and a new free front end portion of film (3a) is held, characterized in that in order to associate the free front end portion of the film (3a) with the load, the film is applied so as to straddle a first corner (17a) of the load, until local plastic deformation of the film is obtained.
