Man hat diese Beobachtung namentlich an Polsterungen, Kissen usw. gemacht, die für künstliche Glieder oder auch orthopädische Zwecke bestimmt sind. Beim Tragen künstlicher Glieder treten häufig Druckstellen auf, die darauf zurückzuführen sind, daß die weiche Unterlage unter dem Einfluß ungleichmäßigen Druckes an einer Stelle so weit zusammengedrückt wird, daß sie ihre Nachgiebigkeit an dieser Stelle verliert und somit die ganze Polsterwirkung aufhebt. Es ist nun an sich ebenfalls auf dem einschlägigen Gebiet ein Stoff bekannt, der als Unterlage weitgehende Plastizität mit nahezu völliger Inkompressibilität vereinigt.
