Die Leiste, welche den Hämmern im Zustande der Ruhe als Auflage dient, besteht aus zwei mittelst Scharniers verbundenen, um c drehbaren Theilen, und zwar aus der Holzleiste a und der beiderseitig mit Filz belegten Metallschiene b. Ein weiteres Heben der Hämmer bis an die Saiten und ein Einklinken der Stange / in das seitlich angebrachte Böckchen m macht das Klavier stumm.
