Abstract

Packaging (1) which holds a quantity of cheese (2), at least comprising a multilayer film with at least one layer of paper and one layer of plastic, the packaging comprising two film layers (3, 4) which are joined to one another with the aid of at least two closures seams (9, 10) and define an opening (8) for the packaging (1), while one of the film layers (4) comprises a flap (7) which is folded over the opening (8) in order to close off the opening (8), with a reclosure adhesive (6) interacting with the other film layer (3).

Resealable packaging

The invention relates to a packaging for packaging a certain quantity of cheese or the like.

Such packaging is generally known in the prior art. There are many different types of packaging. There is packaging that must be opened using a dividing line or something similar. However, there is also packaging that must be opened using a sharp object such as scissors or a knife. Both types of packaging cannot be closed satisfactorily again after opening. However, there are also known packaging that contains means to make the packaging resealable. With the latter packaging, for example, cheese can be removed from a package after opening and the remaining part of the cheese can be put back in, whereby the packaging can then be closed again.

In the current state of technology, the packaging is usually made of transparent plastic and it is very clear to the consumer that the packaging and its contents are so-called industrial packaging and therefore

It is not freshly sliced cheese. The cheese usually looks as if it would last longer than freshly sliced cheese, so that the consumer usually assumes that the cheese contains preservatives and therefore cannot have the quality of fresh cheese. In addition, such packaging lacks a handcrafted appearance.

There is therefore a demand, given the state of the art, for packaging containing a certain quantity of cheese, which gives the impression of containing freshly sliced cheese and has an artisanal character.

The object of the invention is therefore to remedy this demand and to provide a packaging in which a certain quantity of cheese can be packaged and which comprises at least one multilayer film with at least one paper layer and one plastic layer, the packaging comprising two film layers which are connected to one another by means of at least two closing seams and define an opening for the packaging, one of the film layers comprising an envelope which can be folded over the opening in order to close the opening with the aid of a reclosing adhesive and in cooperation with the other film layer.

Tests have shown that the packaging according to the invention is a very attractive packaging for consumers, among other things because of its resealability and

the presence of the paper layer in the multilayer film of the film material from which the packaging is made. The appearance is handcrafted, as is the feel when such packaging is handled. The packaging has a very handcrafted appearance.

The manner in which the packaging is manufactured is not essential, but it is advantageous if the packaging is manufactured from a film web and comprises two closing seams, i.e. one of the edges is formed by a fold in the film web, two opposite edges by a closing seam and the fourth edge by the envelope. The packaging thus has the appearance of an envelope.

The film material for use in the packaging according to the invention is of essential importance. It is important that it comprises a plastic layer and a paper layer. In particular, the film material according to the invention is transparent, preferably semi-transparent, and has the external characteristics of so-called fat-free paper. It is particularly advantageous if the film material, viewed from the outside to the inside, comprises at least the following layers:

- a paper layer,

- an adhesive layer,

- a gas-tight layer,

- a waterproof layer and

- a reinforcing layer.

In other words, the paper layer is always on the outside of the packaging and the reinforcement layer on the inside. The reinforcement layer is therefore in contact with the cheese in the packaging, while the paper layer is in contact with the environment. In certain cases it may be advantageous to additionally cover the paper layer on the outside with a suitable plastic layer, a so-called cover layer.

Said layers can be selected from many materials known to the person skilled in the art, but it is advantageous if the film material comprises the following layers from the outside to the inside:

- a paper layer,

- a polyethylene layer as an adhesive layer,

- an EVOH layer as a gas-tight layer,

- a polyethylene layer as a waterproof layer and

- a polyamide layer as a reinforcing layer.

The paper used in the packaging according to the invention is preferably paper with a specific weight of 20-50 g/m ² , particularly preferably 25 g/m ² .

The foil envelope may comprise a portion of one foil layer which extends over the other foil layer

is folded and at the same time closes the opening. In a preferred embodiment, the foil envelope is folded over the opening together with a part of the two foil layers. This embodiment is explained in more detail in the explanation of the figures.

The cheese contained in the packaging according to the invention can be cheese in one piece or sliced cheese.

The reclosure adhesive according to the invention is preferably a thermoplastic adhesive that can be easily applied at elevated temperatures, possibly with the aid of a nozzle or even by screen printing. Double-sided adhesive tape or the like is also conceivable. The double-sided adhesive tape will contain an adhesive on one side that can permanently adhere to the film material of the packaging, but will contain reclosure adhesive on the other side. Furthermore, the reclosure adhesive can have a different color to the rest of the packaging, so that the consumer can easily understand and apply the reclosure principle.

One or more biodegradable plastic layers can also be incorporated into the film material. Examples of these are casein layers, polylactide layers, starch layers and combinations thereof. One of the layers is advantageously a plastic film based on polylactide and starch.

In Figure 1, 1 designates a package according to the invention which is filled with a certain amount of cheese 2. The package 1 comprises an upper film layer 3 and a lower film layer 4. The upper film layer 3 and the lower film layer 4 are connected to one another by means of a peelable closing seam 5. The lower film layer 4 is provided with a reclosing adhesive 6 which serves to be able to connect an envelope 7, which forms part of the lower film layer 4, to the upper film layer 3.

This situation can be clearly seen in Figure 2 in the partially opened state of packaging 1.

By separating the upper film layer 3 from the lower film layer 4 at the level of the seam 5, as shown in Figure 3, an opening 8 is obtained which provides access to the interior of the packaging. In this way, all or part of the cheese can be removed. After the cheese has possibly been reinserted into the packaging, the packaging 1 can be closed again by returning it, apart from the seam 5, to the state shown in Figure 1 in which the reclosing adhesive 6 cooperates with the upper layer 3.

It will be clear that the reclosure adhesive 6 may also be attached to the upper film layer 3 at the location indicated in Figure 1. This will of course depend on the particular application.

Figure 4 shows a front view of the packaging 1 according to Figures 1 and 2, in which two closing seams 9 and 10 and a folding seam 11 are visible.

The packaging 1 according to the previous figures is made from a film web. However, the invention is not limited to this, since the packaging can also be made from several pieces of film.

Claims (6)

1. Packaging ( 1 ) for packaging a certain quantity of cheese ( 2 ) or the like with at least one multilayer film with at least one paper layer and one plastic layer, the packaging comprising two film layers ( 3 , 4 ) which are connected to one another by means of at least two closing seams ( 9 , 10 ) and define an opening for the packaging ( 1 ), one of the film layers ( 4 ) having an envelope ( 7 ) which can be folded over the opening ( 8 ) in order to close the opening with the aid of a reclosing adhesive ( 6 ) and in cooperation with the other film layer ( 3 ). 2. Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that the packaging ( 1 ) is made from a film web and comprises two closing seams ( 9 , 10 ). 3. Packaging according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the film material, viewed from the outside to the inside, comprises at least the following layers: 1. a paper layer, 2. an adhesive layer, 3. a gas-tight layer, 4. a waterproof layer and 5. a reinforcing layer. 4. Packaging according to claim 3, characterized in that the film material comprises the following layers from the outside to the inside: 1. a paper layer, 2. a polyethylene layer as an adhesive layer, 3. an EVOH layer as a gas-tight layer, 4. a polyethylene layer as a waterproof layer and 5. a polyamide layer as a reinforcing layer. 5. Packaging according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the paper is so-called 25-gram paper. 6. Packaging according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the film envelope ( 7 ) is folded over the opening together with a part of the two film layers ( 3 , 4 ).
