Description

The postcard medium is always up to date and has been rediscovered for advertising purposes in our time - see free postcards in trendy bars. The artist card in particular has brought about interesting developments in terms of content, form and material. The possibility of a short, concise message in conjunction with the appropriate motif side - a small poster - makes the postcard the ideal medium for personal messages, from holiday greetings to congratulations, and is now also available on the Internet.

If you wanted to send a postcard in the past, you had to choose one motif or a multi-motif card with a set saying like "Greetings from Hanover." Often, some motifs are not liked at all and you would rather mix motifs from one card with motifs from another card and send "Best wishes" or "Warm regards," "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year" on this card.

This problem is technically solved by the invention set out in claims 1 and 2.

The invention presented in the claim is a technique for producing any combination (grid field mosaics) from self-adhesive elements (grid fields) of a given set of different elements (grid block). The sizes of the elements are modules of a common grid division of these elements and of the carrier material (grid postcard) to which they are glued. The grid division works like the principle of the "least common multiple".

An example: the modules 1/9, 1/18 or 1/12 are contained in the module 36/36 (with the lowest common multiple 36). However, other divisions can also be realized in the same module 36/36 (drawing 1).

The invention for which protection is sought is similar to Gutenberg's technique of typesetting using movable type. In lead typesetting, the individual letters and symbols of the alphabet are placed next to one another in the limited space of the type case to form fonts with different letters of the same font size. This typesetting of fonts enables unlimited combinations of words, lines and texts.

The invention described here even allows the combination of any different elements: the grid fields made up of monochrome coloured areas or images in the form of photos, pictograms or illustrations and text characters in the form of letters, special typographic characters or whole words are combined to form image/image, image/text or text/text combinations.

Their advantage lies in the original, rational, innovative, individual, current and cost-effective combinability of individual heterogeneous elements (grid fields) to produce new motifs (grid field mosaics) on various carrier materials.

Thanks to the small size of the raster fields, the digital templates have a small data volume of just 0.6 MB. The raster blocks can be printed cost-effectively in 25 copies each on a sheet of 70 (height) x 100 cm (width).

For the simple and precise application of the separated grid fields to predetermined markings, for example a grid poster, the grid block is numbered and provided with alphanumeric coordinates
(see drawings 2 and 3).

The dimensions and division of the grid postcard are arbitrary. However, for economical production, the DIN standardization of paper formats, the Deutsche Post transport conditions and an image size that is not too small must be taken into account. These specifications result in the following pattern in the size of almost DIN A6:

Claims (2)

1. Grid block made of self-adhesive grid fields for producing grid field mosaics on grid postcards
the raster block, characterized by
that it consists of self-adhesive grid fields. These grid fields are printed with any motifs such as monochrome color areas, photographs, illustrations, symbols, pictograms, text symbols, letters, typographic special characters or whole words on dry-gummed paper, adhesive paper or self-adhesive film in grammages of 80 to 90 g/m² in one or more colors,
that the sizes of the grid fields are modules of a common grid division. The actual final sizes and the division of the grid are arbitrary. However, the grid field and grid postcard modules are subject to the same common modular system - similar to that of the "least common multiple". The grid division is made by horizontal and vertical perforation, punching or slitting,
that after separating the grid fields, they can be glued in any arrangement onto a wide variety of carrier materials. 2. The grid postcard, characterized by
that its size is a module of the common grid division and can thus accommodate the grid fields of the grid block. Thanks to the common grid division, grid fields of different sizes can be combined as desired,
that the grid division in the form of horizontal and vertical single- or multi-coloured printed lines or coloured areas serves as marking aids for sticking on the grid fields,
that the raster postcard is made of art paper with a grammage of 250 g/m².
