Innovative drain dirt collection element to prevent pipe blockage

Problem:

Whether you are washing dishes, washing your hair or shaving, the problem of food scraps, hair and other things getting into the sink and thus into the drain often occurs every day. There are collecting sieves that you can put in drains, but these have a few disadvantages, such as the shallow depth of the dirt collecting recess, which means that these sieves fill up very quickly and thus block the drain opening and therefore have to be cleaned relatively often. If it is blocked, however, such a sieve must logically be removed and emptied for cleaning. You therefore have to reach through the water in the sink and pull out the sieve, which often means that during this action (lifting the sieve up through the water) parts in the sieve are washed out, which then end up in the drain, which contradicts the purpose of these sieves. Another problem with these strainers is that they have openings that are too large for many parts that are not wanted for drainage, so they do not prevent these from getting into the drainpipe and are therefore unsuitable as collecting strainers for basins in the bathroom area, for example. With known additional collecting strainers, it is also not possible to close the drain with a plug when they are in place in order to be able to fill the basin with water when necessary.

Solution :

The solution to these problems is a dirt collection sieve insert that is easy to manufacture and use: the drain pocket sieve (Fig. 1+2)! A bag-shaped, elongated collection sieve element (2) is attached to a ring-shaped base element (1), which has a much higher dirt absorption capacity than other drain sieve elements. It has a ring-shaped seal (3) around the base element (i) and a plug (5) which is connected to the edge of the base element (i) by means of a band or chain and with which it can be sealed watertight if necessary. The drain pocket sieve is simply inserted into the drain opening of the selected basin. A handle (4) located on the edge of the base element makes this and removal easier. Due to the much larger dirt absorption capacity, this invention does not clog up as quickly as the known dirt collection drain sieves.

If, as provided according to the invention, the drain pocket sieve is emptied, e.g. after washing dishes or washing hair, it is almost impossible for it to become blocked and dirty water to remain in the wash basin and/or the pipe to become blocked. In addition, the inlet opening of the drain pocket sieve can be closed using a closure (5) belonging to the drain pocket sieve, and the basin can then be filled with water, e.g. for washing dishes. If the washing water is now drained, the sieve holds back the parts that are not wanted for the drain by catching them. The drain pocket sieve can then be removed for cleaning. The openings in the sieve structure are sized to suit the area of use. The collecting sieve element (2) is removable and replaceable, as the seal (3) that holds the collecting sieve element (2) on the base element (1) can be removed.

Different types of collecting sieve elements can be used, depending on the area of application. Flexible collecting sieve elements can be emptied by simply turning them inside out. 1 sheet with illustrations.

Claims (8)

1. Drain pocket sieve for preventing pipe blockages, characterized in that a bag-shaped elongated collecting sieve element is located on an annular base element, which can be inserted into the drain opening of a basin and thus catches and thus retains parts which are undesirable in the drain. 2. Drain pocket sieve according to claim 1, characterized in that there is an annular seal around the annular base element to which the collecting sieve element is attached, whereby the drain pocket sieve can be fitted exactly into the drain opening of the basin and the base element seals all around along the inner edge of the basin drain. 3. Drain pocket sieve according to claim 2, characterized in that the collecting sieve element is held on the annular base element by means of the annular seal. 4. Drain pocket sieve according to claim 2, characterized in that the annular seal can be easily removed and the collecting sieve element can then be removed and replaced. 5. Drain pocket sieve according to claim 1, characterized in that the drain pocket sieve can be easily inserted into the drain of the basin or removed from it with the aid of a handle located on the outer edge of the base element. 6. Drain pocket sieve according to claim 1 , characterized in that the inlet opening of the annular base element can be closed watertight by means of a closure in the form of a plug attached to the base element with a band or a chain. 7. Drain pocket sieve according to claim 1, characterized in that the collecting sieve element is made of flexible material, whereby the drain pocket sieve can be emptied by turning the collecting sieve element inside out by guiding the filled collecting sieve element through the annular base element. 8. Drain pocket sieve according to claim 1, characterized in that a cylindrical, elongated, non-invertible collecting sieve element can be attached to the annular base element instead of the bag-shaped collecting sieve element, which can be emptied by a pouring process.
