The present invention relates to a backpack and, more particularly, to a backpack with size-adjustable front storage space.

There are many bags available for purchase to carry various personal items. A backpack is the most common bag for carrying things outdoors. Since a backpack has shoulder straps, it can be carried on the user's back while leaving the user's hands free.

However, the carrying capacity of a backpack is not adjustable. If a lot of things are to be carried, a large backpack is required. However, if a large backpack is used to carry a few things, the shape of the large backpack cannot be maintained and there is a risk that the items contained in the backpack will be shaken or disorganized when the user walks.

The present invention therefore aims to overcome the above problems. A main object of the present invention is to provide a backpack which can be conveniently adjusted in size to change its holding capacity depending on the amount of articles to be carried, so that the carried articles can be held in position in the backpack when the user walks.

This task is solved by the features of the claim.

Thus, the backpack according to the present invention includes a front storage space in front of a main storage space of the backpack. The front storage space includes a rear wall integral with the main storage space and formed to be bent backward toward the inside of the main storage space, a peripheral wall disposed at the edge portion of the rear wall, and a cover flap connected to the peripheral wall by a zipper and capable of being opened/closed or detached/tied by the latter. A second zipper is provided on the peripheral wall. The second zipper has two rows of meshing teeth which are sewn in two rows obliquely to the peripheral wall toward the edge of the rear wall and converge at the other end to allow the user to adjust the storage capacity set in the front storage space by opening/closing the second zipper.

Figure 6 is a sectional side view of the backpack according to the invention showing the second zipper of the front storage space in the closed state, wherein the storage capacity of the front storage space is reduced.

In Figures 1 to 6, a backpack is shown having a main storage compartment 10. The main storage compartment 10 includes a zipper 12 operable to close and open its top opening, two shoulder straps 13 on its back to allow the backpack to be carried on a user's back, a handle 14 on the top to allow the user to carry the backpack by hand, and a plurality of, for example, two front pockets 15 on its front in the upper region thereof for holding accessories and other small items.

A front storage space 20 is provided on the front side of the main storage space 10 below the front pockets 15. The front storage space 20 includes a peripheral wall 21, a rear wall 24 integrally formed with the main storage space 10, a front cover flap 22 fixedly connected to the bottom edge of the peripheral wall 21, a first zipper 23 operable to close/open the front cover flap 22, and a second zipper

25 which is sewn onto the peripheral wall 21 in the direction around the edge of the posterior wall 24.

The rear wall 24 is peripherally sewn to one side edge of the peripheral wall 21 and bent backward toward the inside of the main storage space 10. The size of the rear wall 24 exceeds that of the front cover flap 22. The second zipper 25 includes two rows of mutually engaged teeth, namely, a first row of teeth 251 and a second row of teeth 252. The first row of teeth 251 and the second row of teeth 252 are obliquely sewn to the peripheral wall 21 and converge toward each other at one end. When the second zipper 25 is opened, the peripheral wall 21 is fully extended and the storage capacity of the front storage space 20 is relatively increased. On the other hand, when the second zipper 25 is closed, the part of the peripheral wall 21 defined between the first row of teeth 251 and the second row of teeth 252 is accommodated in the front storage space 20 and the accommodation capacity is relatively reduced. The accommodation capacity of the front storage space 20 can therefore be changed by closing/opening the second zipper 25.

As shown in Figures 4 and 5, the capacity of the front storage space 20 can be adjusted according to the requirements of the items to be stored. For example, roller skates 30 or a helmet 40 can be stored in the front storage space 20 when the second zipper 25 is opened. Since the rear wall 24 is formed integrally with the main storage space 10 and is curved toward the inside of the main storage space 10,

A large storage capacity is fixed in the front storage area 20.

As shown in Figure 6, the rear wall 24 of the front storage space 20 is simultaneously used as a partition wall which separates the storage capacity of the front storage space 20 from the storage capacity of the rear storage space 10. During a trip, for example, clean and dirty items of clothing can be stored separately in the main storage space 10 and the front storage space 20 to prevent soiling of the clean items of clothing.

As stated above, the present invention comprises a backpack having a main storage space and a separate front storage space in front of the main storage space, a special feature being that the storage capacity of the front storage space can be conveniently selected by closing/opening a zipper.

Claims (1)

1. Backpack with a main storage space ( 10 ) and a front storage space ( 20 ) at the front of the main storage space ( 10 ), the main storage space ( 10 ) having a zipper ( 12 ) operable to open or close an upper opening thereof, two shoulder straps ( 13 ) on its rear side for carrying the backpack on a user's back and a handle ( 14 ) on its upper side for manually carrying the backpack by a user, the front storage space ( 20 ) having a peripheral wall connected to the main storage space ( 10 ), a front cover flap ( 22) connected to a bottom edge of the peripheral wall (21 ) and a first zipper ( 23 ) for closing or opening the front cover flap ( 22 ), characterized in that
that the front storage space ( 20 ) has a rear wall ( 24 ) which is formed in one piece with the main storage space ( 10 ) and curved backwards towards the inside of the main storage space ( 10 ) and sewn peripherally to a side edge of the peripheral wall ( 21 ), by means of which the received space formed in the front storage space ( 20 ) can be separated from the receiving space formed in the main storage space ( 10 ), the rear wall ( 24 ) being larger than the front cover flap ( 22 ), and
that the main storage space ( 10 ) has a second zipper ( 25 ) which is sewn to the peripheral wall ( 21 ), the second zipper ( 25 ) comprising two rows of intermeshing teeth ( 251 ; 252 ) which are sewn obliquely to the peripheral wall ( 21 ) in the direction around the front cover flap ( 22 ) and converging at one end for user adjustment of the width of the peripheral wall ( 21 ) by opening and closing the second zipper ( 25 ) for further adjustment of the receiving space formed in the front storage space ( 20 ).
