Description
Public transport is usually equipped with at least two exterior mirrors. This allows for better visibility while driving and parking. The exterior mirrors are quite large and well attached to the side.
Due to the heavy traffic in big cities, buses and trams often do not reach their destinations on time. Drivers are often under pressure and drive their vehicles very quickly to the stops so as not to be late. Accidents often occur where the outside mirror collides with waiting passengers as the vehicle enters the stop.
The invention specified in claims 1 to 5 is based on the problem of creating a system that is able to avoid a risk of collision between the exterior mirror and waiting guests or passers-by.
This problem is solved by the features listed in claims 1 to 5.
Es zeigen:The invention achieves increased safety in public transport. Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained using Figures 1 to 3. They show:
Fig. 1 eine Situation, wobei diese Erfindung seinen Effekt zeigt, Fig. 2 eine einfache Darstellung des Systems, Fig. 3 einen Mechanismus, der die Spiegel nach Innen zieht (versenkt).Fig. 1 a situation where this invention shows its effect, Fig. 2 a simple representation of the system, Fig. 3 a mechanism that pulls the mirrors inwards (recesses them).
The system consists of a number of parts and mechanisms, such as: sensor 1, control unit 2, drive system 3 of the outside mirror 4, retracting mechanism 5, protective flap 6, tension springs 7 etc. The sensors 1 detect the area 8 in front of the mirror. IR sensors, for example, are very well suited for this. As soon as an obstacle is in the scanning area during the journey (e.g. at a distance of 1 m), this information is immediately forwarded to a control unit 2, which activates a mechanism with the task of folding the mirror or bringing it very close to the body. This prevents the outside mirror from colliding with, for example, waiting passengers at the bus stop. The mechanism can function mechanically or electrically. A tensioned spring 7 can be helpful. This mechanism is shown in Figures 2 and 3. The spring is tensioned using an electric motor 9. It remains in this state as long as no obstacle comes into the critical area during the journey. However, the spring is not triggered when the vehicle is not moving or when it is stationary. This is regulated by the control unit and the evaluation unit. An electric drive for the mirror would also be conceivable. A strong electromagnet could quickly fold the mirror in critical situations.
A variant, shown in Figure 3, consists of a mechanism that lowers the exterior mirror into the interior of the body in an emergency.
