Eine gespannte Feder 7 kann behilflich sein. Dieser Mechanismus ist in Figuren 2 und 3 dargestellt. Die Feder wird mit Hilfe eines Elektromotors 9 gespannt. In diesem Zustand bleibt sie, solange kein Hindernis während der Fahrt in den kritischen Bereich kommt. Ein Auslösen der Feder findet jedoch nicht statt, wenn das Fahrzeug nicht fährt bzw. wenn es steht. Das wird von der Steuereinheit sowie der Auswerte-Einheit geregelt. Ein elektrischer Antrieb für den Spiegel wäre auch denkbar.
