Wooden profile strips, the bottom of which has a T-slot and is mitred at the ends, are screwed together to form a picture frame using mounting brackets.

State of the art:

Wooden picture frames, regardless of the profile, are mitered or punched at the ends of the frame segments. The individual frame segments are then glued and/or joined together at the corners using special machines or devices to create a picture frame.

On the inside of the finished frame there is a fold to accommodate the image material.

After inserting the image material into this fold, it is attached using staples, pins or staples. Once a hanging device has been installed, the image itself is finished.

Metal picture rails made using the extrusion process are mitred at the ends of the individual rail segments, just like wooden picture rails, but are screwed together using mounting brackets in the opposite direction.

On the inside of a metal picture frame there is usually a U-shaped profile, into whose open slot the picture material is inserted and locked with tension springs.

This type of metal picture frame has the advantage over wooden picture frames that it can be put together quickly, easily and yet still be stable and safe, and the picture material can be inserted without any problem. Dismantling is just as easy, so that this type of picture frame is very suitable as a removable frame.

The serious disadvantages of the wooden slatted frames compared to the metal picture frame are the rigid corner connection and the more complex assembly work when changing the picture. The reversible effort is proportional, whereby the fastening material often cannot be reused.

The qualitative assessment of both strip systems with regard to conservation framing concerns the criteria of the respective user and, from this point of view, is not taken into account here.

Problem:

The invention specified in claims 1 and 2 is based on the problem of creating wooden profile strips for the production of picture frames which have the technical advantages of the metal profile strip.

Solution:

This problem is solved with the features listed in claims 1 and 2.

Benefits achieved:

The invention makes it possible to produce picture frames made of wooden profile strips as interchangeable frames with the same ease as picture frames made of metal strips, and with correspondingly shortened assembly times.

Further design:

By milling the T-slot according to claims 1 and 2 into already produced wooden profile picture strips, these can be subsequently converted into interchangeable frame strips without any special economic or technical effort.

Examples of implementation:

Figure 1 shows a wooden strip profile with a T-slot milled out for protection.
