Stand-up aid and grab handle

The invention relates to a device as an aid for standing up and holding on, especially for elderly and disabled people, according to the preamble of claim 1. ' '

They cannot therefore be adapted to individual use by different people, children or adults, the elderly or the disabled, and can only be used as standing aids to a very limited extent.

¹ The most important task of the invention was therefore that the handle, once grasped, constantly slides along with each individual movement and step, thus offering optimum safety and also conveying the psychological feeling of security.

This has been very successfully achieved with the invention/device of the "standing up and holding aid" as claimed in claim 1, "as has been shown in practice with a prototype.

The general advantages of the invention are listed below:

1) The stand-up and grab handle moves individually with the standing-up movements from the bath or bed, step by step. " , . ■

2) In contrast to conventional handles, the grip surface for the hand is not lengthwise to the wall, but

designed transversely so that the hand can grip naturally and in the direction of pull, which ensures basic safety. '

5) The device can be varied in length by using shorter or longer base rails and retains its function in every conceivable position. ■ '

6) It can be mounted on walls, beds, cupboards or any combination imaginable, either fixed or movable. . ' · .

7) The basic body of the construction can be combined for a wide variety of applications by attaching various and also several movable or fixed parts.

8) For example, vertical mounting allows for height adjustment for hooks of various shapes and purposes. Likewise, slanted or horizontal mounting allows all conceivable variations. . ..

9K The base rail itself, depending on the distance from the wall, represents a grab handle in the conventional style, since it is already designed as a handle bar.

The handle has a spring mechanism with a latch that allows you to engage with each of these recesses and lock them in the direction of the hand's pull.

This means that the base rail is, as is usually the case, mounted diagonally upwards on a wall.

The handle can be easily moved upwards, where it clicks into place step by step from notch to notch and holds in the direction of the hand's pull, i.e. downwards.

This step-by-step function is absolutely important, as an elderly or disabled person in particular cannot hold on and pull themselves up or stand upright in one step.^ . ■ .' . , '

However, he can gradually get used to a different position and, by pushing the handle further, slowly and individually get up from a lying position (e.g. from the bathtub) into a standing position, which was previously only possible with the help of an assistant. '' -

After getting up, the handle is located at the upper end of the base rail and is then just as important as a general holding point, e.g. when showering or similar or when getting out of the bath.

To return to the standing phase, the handle must be pushed down again. " ..

To do this, the locking button on the handle of the holding mechanism must be pressed. The handle then slides easily back into the desired position.

The actual handle, which makes up the upper part of the handle, is connected to it by means of two swivel joints and mounted by means of wave washers, in such a way that it can be adjusted to any desired position by approximately 90° to the side of the handle, can remain in this position or can be folded completely towards the wall. The base rail itself can be used as a permanently mounted handle bar, depending on the different heights of the mounting spacers used, and therefore fulfils two functions... . ■ ' . . ·

The mounting/spacers at each end of the base rail are designed as a smooth cylinder without tapering towards the rail and, as they are as wide as the base rail, prevent the handle from sliding out of the rail. This gives the end parts better lateral support and creates a good visual finish to the ends of the base rail, which are also semi-circular. .· , . ■

The entire device is, as already mentioned at the beginning, universally applicable. The length of the base rail can vary depending on the application, it can have a different profile, be made of a hollow body or of solid material, etc. . '

The handle can also have all kinds of shapes and functions. For example, it can be designed as a hook for various applications, etc.

The entire device is conceivable and applicable as a system in larger or smaller variations.

As a standing-up aid and a point of support, it can be particularly useful in the bathroom above the bath or at the bed, as well as an individual grab handle for wheelchair users or at all possible stopping points in everyday life. - ' '

By means of a universal joint, for example, the entire construction can be attached to a point at the top, movable relative to the wall, so that it hangs loosely from the wall, the base rail has a round shape, for example, and the handle is adjusted accordingly.

Claims (3)

1. Device as an aid for "holding on and getting up" from the bathtub, bed, wheelchair or the like, for elderly or disabled people; as an adjustable, lockable grab handle which can be moved on a base body by means of a slide and can be locked against pulling with a locking mechanism, characterized in that the grab handle ( 2 b) is designed as the upper part of a handle piece ( 2 ) and is connected to the latter in a laterally adjustable, foldable manner via two swivel joints. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that several and different handles or other objects can be pushed, adjusted and secured on the base rail ( 1 ). 3. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the base rail ( 1 ) is flexible and is designed at the upper end as a single-point fastening by means of a universal joint to a fixed point (wall etc.) as a hanging/standing aid and the shape of the base body is round like a ball or pearl necklace, the hand/grip piece ( 2 ) is designed as a loop, while a carriage ( 2a ) encompasses the entire base body, is rotatable by 360° and can be locked step by step, from ball to ball.
