"Parking facility"

The invention relates to a parking facility with marked parking spaces and with driving lanes to the parking spaces.

In the well-known parking facilities, such as parking lots, multi-storey car parks and underground garages, the parking spaces and aisles have standardized dimensions. The length, width and height of the parking spaces are based on a "design vehicle". The width of the aisles depends on the type of installation, i.e. whether vertical, diagonal or lengthwise.

The invention is based on the object of improving the use of space.

According to the invention, this purpose is achieved by

Pitches of different sizes

for each vehicle size in a specific area, devices for detecting the size of incoming vehicles and devices for directing vehicles to parking spaces provided for that vehicle size.

In this way, by dividing the range of vehicle sizes into areas and allocating suitable parking spaces, the invention takes into account the fact that most vehicles are below the previous design sizes and that shorter, narrower and/or lower parking spaces are sufficient for these vehicles, as are narrower driving lanes, which are preferably also adapted.

The invention makes it possible to optimize parking facilities in terms of area, volume and cost-effectiveness.

As a rule, blocks are set up with parking spaces of the same size and a lane of the corresponding width. Depending on the circumstances, however, parking spaces of variable size may also be considered, for example by arranging different activatable light markings. In particular, a row of adjacent parking spaces of the same length should be considered here, which can be widened or narrowed by removing or adding a parking space. In this case, the lane can remain unchanged.

During ongoing operations, it is possible to redirect vehicles to larger parking spaces if the parking spaces of the size intended for them are fully occupied.

The structure of the blocks can follow the usual types.

Sensors, inductive loops, light barriers, infrared detectors and/or ultrasonic detectors arranged in the access area of the parking facility can be used in a conventional manner as devices for detecting the size of the incoming vehicles, i.e. length, width and height.

The devices can also have receivers for data transmitted from the vehicle. The transmission takes place, for example, by radio or by inserting a code card or a chip into a column. Satellites can also be used for data transmission if necessary.

The devices for guiding vehicles may comprise signals, barriers and/or movable bollards in a conventional manner. They may also include providing information about the location of the parking space to the driver, e.g. by issuing block-specific parking tickets, coloured parking tickets for blocks marked in the same colour or even parking tickets with numbers for numbered parking spaces.

However, forcing vehicles to use red/green lights or mechanical barriers has the advantage of making the system absolutely reliable. It is impossible to park in the wrong place.

After recording the dimensions of the vehicle, a data center will classify the vehicle according to the available parking space sizes, determine the occupancy of the relevant block(s) based on entry and exit monitoring, and

direct the vehicle to a block with a free parking space by switching on free/occupied signals, barriers or movable bollards, as already mentioned, and if necessary by issuing block-specific parking tickets. If the parking spaces of the size intended for them are full, the vehicles can be directed to larger parking spaces. Special sizes or special vehicles can also be directed to special parking spaces.

In the following, the invention will be further explained using an embodiment which represents a parking facility with two levels.

Fig. 1 shows the upper level,
Fig. 2 shows the lower level.

The upper level, marked 1, is at street level and is open. The lower level, marked 2, is designed as an underground car park.

An entrance 3 is usually provided with a barrier 4 and a machine 5 for issuing a parking ticket. In addition, it is equipped with devices 6 for recording the length, width and height of the incoming vehicles.

From the entrance 3, a connection 8, which is closed and opened by a barrier 7, leads to the upper level 1 and a ramp 10, which is also closed and opened by a barrier 9, leads to the lower level 2.

The lower level 2 is intended for normal cars with a height of less than 1.80 m.

It has four blocks A, B, C and D with parking spaces for vertical parking between a common access road 11 and a common exit road 12. The blocks are each closed and opened by a barrier 13 at their entrance and are provided with a light barrier 14 at their exit. At the end of the exit road 12 there is a machine 15 for collecting the parking ticket and a barrier 16 controlled by the machine 15.

The table below shows the size of the parking spaces and the width of the driving lanes in blocks A to D and the vehicle sizes they are designed for.

The upper level 1 is intended for vehicles with a height of over 1.80 m, such as minibuses, off-road vehicles, mobile homes and vehicles with roof structures. The layout of the paths and lanes here is essentially the same as in the lower level 2. However, the vehicles are guided in alternating directions by arrows in the lanes marked 17, 18, 19 and 20, and there are no barriers or light barriers. Instead, at the exit in front of the usual machine 22 for taking the parking ticket and the barrier 23, there is another device 24 for recording at least the length and width of the vehicles.

The tramlines 17 to 20 are not located in a single block on this level. They lead between four blocks E, F, G and H or between two blocks E and two blocks F with parking spaces for inclined positioning, the parking space dimensions of which are listed in the table below together with the width of the tramlines and the respective vehicle sizes provided for.

The parking system is equipped with a central control system as follows:

If a normal car intended for the lower level 2 passes the barrier 4 at the entrance 3, the barrier 7 remains closed and the barrier 9 opens. Furthermore, the barrier 13 of the block A, B, C or D that is intended for the size of the car in question opens with a time delay.

The car drives through the open barrier 9, over the ramp 10 onto the access road 11 and along it until it reaches the barrier 13, which is open for it. At this barrier it turns into the lane of the block in question and drives onto a parking space in this block. If it leaves the block, this is registered by the light barrier 14 located at the exit. In this way, the central control system knows the occupancy of the block. The machine 15 for taking the parking ticket and the barrier 16 are used in the usual way to check that the parking fee has been paid.

If the vehicle is higher, the machine 5 issues a parking ticket which also contains information as to whether the vehicle should be parked in a block of type E, F, G or H. The blocks are marked accordingly.

Instead of barrier 9, barrier 7 opens. The vehicle drives over connection 8 into lane 17 and continues driving until it has found one of the parking spaces provided for the vehicle. If it leaves the parking space again, it is measured again at exit 21. In this way, the central computer keeps track of the occupancy for level 1. The re-measurement is safer than processing the information on the parking ticket, but it is also possible. This is because parking tickets can be mixed up.

Parking facility with marked parking spaces and with driving lanes to the parking spaces, characterized by parking spaces (AH) of different sizes for the vehicle sizes in a certain area, devices ( 6 ) for detecting the size of incoming vehicles and devices ( 5 ; 7 ; 9 ; 13 ) for directing the vehicles to parking spaces provided for the vehicle size in question. 2. Parking facility according to claim 1, characterized in that driving lanes of different widths are provided for parking spaces of different sizes. 3. Parking facility according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by blocks (A-H) with parking spaces of the same size and with a driving lane of the corresponding width. 4. Parking facility according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized by parking spaces of variable size. 5. Parking facility according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the devices ( 6 ) for detecting the size in the access area of the parking facility comprise sensors, inductive loops, light barriers, infrared detectors and/or ultrasonic detectors. 6. Parking system according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the devices for detecting the size have receivers for data transmitted from the vehicle. 7. Parking facility according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the devices for detecting the size detect at least the length, preferably also the width, preferably also the height. 8. Parking facility according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the devices for guiding the vehicles in a manner known per se comprise signaling systems, barriers ( 7 ; 9 ; 13 ) and/or movable barriers. 9. Parking facility according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the devices ( 5 ) for guiding the vehicles include providing information about the location of the parking space to the driver. 10. Parking facility according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized by a control system such that the vehicles are directed to larger parking spaces when the parking spaces of the size intended for them are fully occupied.
