Kundenkarten der Telefongesellschaften innerhalb des digitalen Mobilfunknetzes GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), in Deutschland D-Netz genannt, gibt es in zwei verschiedenen Formen. Zum einen als Kunststoffkarte mit Außenabmessungen nach ISO 7810 und Position der Kontaktflächen des darauf implantierten Halbleiterchips nach ISO 7816-2. Diese Karte wird bis auf wenige Ausnahmen in Mobiltelefonen eingesetzt, die sich wegen ihrer Größe nur für den Einbau in Kraftfahrzeuge eignen. Zum anderen als sogenannter Plug-in-Chip, der durch seine wesentlich kleineren Abmessungen in kleineren, tragbaren Mobiltelefonen verwendung findet.Customer cards from telephone companies within the digital mobile network GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), known in Germany as D-Netz, come in two different forms.
