Tamponaden bestehen üblicherweise aus einem saugenden Vlies, welches sich ausdehnt, wenn es sich mit Flüssigkeit vollsaugt. Im proktologischen Bereich saugen Tamponaden u.a. postoperativ Sekret auf, komprimieren aber auch die Wunden im Analkanal und stoppen so Nachblutungen. Der Tampon läßt sich mit einem eingebetteten Faden, der aus der natürlichen Öffnung heraushängt mühelos entfernen.Tampons usually consist of an absorbent fleece that expands when it absorbs fluid.
