The invention relates to a seat or bench for mobile homes or trailers with a seat cushion arranged on seat supports and at least one backrest cushion arranged on backrest supports and also with seat legs for support on the vehicle floor.

The seat frames for such seats or benches are, as is well known, arranged as a whole on the vehicle floor so that they can be moved in the vehicle's longitudinal direction, if movement is even possible. The sole aim here is to enable an optimal sitting position, and accordingly, sufficient space must be provided in the vehicle for the entire seat or bench so that the adjustment range can be fully utilized.

On the other hand, there are fixed seats or benches in vehicles of the type mentioned above, which are possible where the driver does not need to use them while driving the vehicle. Such seats

or benches can be found, for example, in mobile homes, caravans, vans or similar vehicles behind the driver's seat or the driver's bench seat, arranged against the direction of travel. To ensure sufficient seating comfort, the seats or seat cushions and the associated frame legs or sides necessarily protrude relatively far into the interior of the vehicle, which limits the space provided in vehicles of the aforementioned type for the arrangement of a reclining cushion when they are converted into sleeping areas, for example.

On the other hand, folding chairs are known as garden or hall chairs, which are equipped with a scissor-folding frame so that they can be stored in a space-saving manner when not in use. Such chairs have not yet been provided in vehicles of the type mentioned because their usability for permanent installations has apparently not been recognized, because mobility is important for the well-known folding chairs so that they can be set up in one place and stored in another.

The invention is based on the object of creating a seat or bench of the type mentioned at the beginning in order to gain additional space in a mobile home, a caravan or a similar vehicle when not in use. This object is achieved in a seat or bench of the generic type according to the invention in that a backrest support and a front leg and a seat support and a rear leg each form a continuous scissor arm and are connected to one another by means of a scissor joint at the crossing point, whereby the scissor arms aligned with one another in the transverse direction of the seat form a scissor joint.

For the seat or the corresponding bench seat according to the invention, it is essential that the seat cushion can be lifted at the front end together with the seat supports, whereby the scissor arms formed thereon take the second scissor arms with them. As a result, the back cushion moves upwards and the front legs move towards the rear legs, so that compared to the position of use, the front edge of the seat moved towards the backrest and the front legs pulled back towards the rear legs create additional space for other storage purposes in the corresponding longitudinal direction of the seat in the vertical projection.

It is advantageous here if, particularly in the folded-back arrangement, the front or the front edges of the seat cushion are in a plane vertical to the vehicle floor together with the front edges of the feet of the front legs. Good kinematics for the desired space saving gain are achieved if, on the one hand, the backrest supports and the front legs of one scissor arm and, on the other hand, the seat supports and the rear legs of the second scissor arm are at an obtuse angle to one another. In this case, the crossing points of the scissor arms and, accordingly, the scissor joints in the area of the front legs and rear legs are arranged close to the bend of the backrest supports and the seat supports. Furthermore, at least one of the scissor arm pairs formed can be locked in the unfolded position, whereby an unlocking must be carried out to fold it back into the space-saving position.

The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment in the drawing. The drawing shows a side view of a folding seat in the installation position in the vehicle in question, arranged opposite to the direction of travel, behind the driver's seat.

In detail, the drawing shows a seat cushion 1, which is arranged on at least two seat supports 2, which are aligned one behind the other in the transverse direction of the seat. At the rear, the seat cushion 1 is adjoined by a backrest cushion 3, which is arranged accordingly on backrest supports 4.

The seat supports 2 merge in one piece into rear legs 5, to which they are at an obtuse angle. In the same way, but in a different dimension, the backrest supports 4 merge in one piece into front legs 6, and here too there is an obtuse angle between the backrest supports 4 and the front legs 6. Overall, such a backrest support 4 forms a first scissor arm 7 with the respective front leg 6, while a seat support 2 forms a second scissor arm 8 with the corresponding rear leg 5.

The scissor arms 7 and 8, which are adjacent in the longitudinal direction of the seat, are connected to one another at an intersection point by means of a scissor joint 9, whereby when the scissor arms 7 and 8 are pivoted from the spread position corresponding to the seat position, the front legs 6 move towards the rear legs 5 and the seat supports 2 move towards the backrest supports 4.

The rear legs 5 of the scissor arms 7 and 8 are mounted on the vehicle floor 10 at a joint 11 which is fixed there.

The two end positions of the scissor arms 7 and 8 and of the seat cushion 1 and the backrest cushion 3 are shown in the drawing. This makes it clear that by lifting the seat cushion 1, the scissor folding frame formed by the scissor arms 7, 8 moves upwards in the vertical direction, but narrows in the longitudinal direction of the seat. Accordingly, the front legs 6 move from the end position shown on the right in the figure to the end position shown on the left in the figure, whereby the front edges 14 of the feet 15 arranged on the front legs 6 perform a stroke H in the longitudinal direction of the seat, which essentially corresponds to the path in the vertical projection that the front edges or the front side 13 of the seat cushion 1 cover when it is folded up. In the folded-in space-saving position, the front edges 14 of the feet 15 on the front legs 6 are essentially in a vertical plane with respect to the vehicle floor 10 with the front or the front edges 13 of the seat cushion 1, which results in a gain in space compared to the unfolded seat position in the folded-in space-saving position, which is made clear by the dark area 16.

The two scissor arms 7 and 8 complement each other to form a pair of scissor arms 7, 8. The two locking members 19 and 20 of the locking device 18 automatically engage with one another when the seat or bench seat is moved into the folded-out position of use, and the seat cushion 1 is unlocked to fold up via a mechanism that is not shown in detail in the drawing. The locking device 18 can be constructed in the same way as is known from tailgate locks on passenger cars.

The drawing shows, as an example only, one of the possible arrangements of a seat that can be changed using a scissor-folding frame behind the usual driver's seat 17 in a mobile home.
