The present invention relates to a novel backpack; it particularly relates to a backpack which has a large number of individual pockets in its interior; finally, it relates more specifically to a backpack for medical use which is particularly adapted for emergency operations which can take place in particular in the mountains on foot or with helicopter support.

As is well known, a backpack necessarily includes a bag with a stiffened back part and a carrying harness consisting of two straps and a belt. Such backpacks are often used for excursions and in mountain sports. For this reason, they are not shown here in full detail.

In a current embodiment, the backpack includes an opening that can be closed by a closure mechanism, such as a zipper. The closure mechanism extends, passing over the top, from the lower edge of the bottom of the backpack to the other edge of the bottom of the backpack and thus defines, together with the stiffened back part, an internal compartment and a cover that can be opened forwards, relative to the wearer.

When a rescue worker or a doctor is called to a mission in difficult-to-access terrain, as can happen in mountain accidents, he generally has to carry the necessary equipment on his back and on foot (see e.g. US-A-4.169.550). Once he has arrived at the site of his mission, he has difficulty accessing the equipment in a difficult situation, because it is scattered in a disorganized backpack and sometimes there is even a risk that it will get lost.

The invention overcomes these disadvantages. It presents a backpack which, although of conventional design, allows a large number of parts to be safely stowed with a minimum of available space and also allows quiet and safe access to them during a difficult operation.

The invention represents such a backpack, which comprises a bag with a stiffened back part and a carrying harness, in particular consisting of two straps and a belt, and wherein the bag has a closable opening through a

Closing mechanism which extends from the lower edge of the bottom part of the bag to the other edge of the bottom part of the bag, running over the top part of the bag, and which, together with the reinforced back part, defines an inner compartment and a cover which can be opened forwards in relation to the wearer.

According to the invention , the backpack is characterized in that

- the bottom of the inside of the inner compartment and the inside of the cover both carry a plurality of parallel, transverse quick-release straps which serve to secure individual pockets suitable for filling, the opposite sides of which carry quick-release straps which cooperate with the respective quick-release straps of the bottom of the inner compartment and the cover to secure the pockets therein;

- each individual pocket is connected to the cover or the inner compartment by a strap.

In other words, the invention relates to a backpack with an inner compartment and a cover that can be opened to the front, wherein the inside of the inner compartment and the inside of the cover have a plurality of quick-release straps for fastening individual bags, which in turn can be filled with surgical equipment or the like. The bag also makes it possible to fasten individual bags in such a way that they can be arranged in a specific position relative to the bag and among each other.

In particular, the backpack has the following advantageous design features:

- Each bag with a specific filling is connected to the inner compartment or the cover by a removable and/or

connected to a strap that is adjustable in length; this prevents the bag and its contents from falling out during use;

- the bottom of the inner compartment includes a space on the bottom of the bag that is intended to accommodate a container, in particular a waste container. This is extremely useful during a medical operation for storing and later disposing of bandages, syringes or similar;

- each bag with a specific content has a different color, which helps to quickly identify the contents;

- on the top of the inner compartment there is a handle, which allows the backpack to be hung on a piton, an ice axe or the rope of a helicopter's winch or other appropriate rescue equipment; advantageously this handle is made of a fluorescent or luminescent material, which can be used for marking at night;

- for the same reasons, bands made of a fluorescent or luminescent material are also arranged on the individual pockets.

In a preferred embodiment, the backpack is detachably connected to a second backpack via the front of the cover, e.g. by a zipper. This second backpack can be used for other fillings, e.g. with rescue blankets, a snow shovel or the wearer's clothing and equipment, such as climbing equipment (helmet, hooks, etc.).

The nature and advantages of the invention are illustrated even more clearly by the following embodiments, which are supported by the attached figures.

Short description of the characters

Figure 1 is a schematic overview of a backpack according to the invention in the closed state.

Figures 2 and 3 show this backpack in the open state, where the individual pockets are first placed on the side of the backpack (Figure 2), and then secured in their respective positions (Figure 3).

The backpack according to the invention comprises a fillable bag (1), the outer side of which, facing away from the wearer, possibly carries identification means (2). The bag (1) is connected in a conventional manner to a rigid back part (3) and a carrying harness (4). The carrying harness (4) is composed in a known manner, with full reference to the reference, of two straps (5, 6) and a belt (7), all three of which are connected to the rigid back part (3).

The bag (1) comprises an opening (10) that can be closed by a closing mechanism (11). The closing mechanism (11) can in particular be a zipper that extends from one lower edge (12) of the lower part of the bag to the other lower edge (13) of the lower part of the bag, passing over the upper part (14) of the bag.

The bag has a handle (17) on the top of the inner compartment (15), which is intended for carrying and, above all, for hanging up safely during use, and is made, for example, from a fluorescent material.

According to the invention (see Figures 2 and 3), it is preferably provided that the bag is equipped with individual pockets, each of which (20, 21, 22, 23) is colored differently, preferably fluorescently. The individual pockets are each to be filled in a specific way, such as with medical, surgical instruments, bandages, compresses and other auxiliary utensils.

According to the invention, the bottom (18) of the inside of the inner compartment (15) and the inside (19) of the cover (16) preferably both have a row of three parallel, transverse quick-fastening tapes (30, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37) which are known as a warp fastener with a fibrous pile and hooks under the brand name "VELCRO".

According to a further preferred feature of the invention, the differently colored bags (20 to 23) have on their backs further quick-closing straps (35), which allow them to be secured in the inner compartment (15) or on the inside of the cover (16) in their respective position by the interaction of the quick-closing straps.

Thus (see Figure 3) each bag can be filled with specific devices or a well-defined content, and is best secured in the inner compartment (15, 20, 21) or on the inside of the cover (16). If the backpack is opened at the place of use, the

According to a further preferred feature of the invention (see Figure 2), each individual pocket (20 to 23) is connected to the cover (16) or to the inner compartment (15) by a removable and length-adjustable strap (29). This avoids the risk of the individual pockets (20 to 23) falling out and getting lost during use, which is a safety precaution that should not be underestimated.

As can be seen in Figure 3, each individual bag has a flap on its upper part, with quick-release straps allowing the bag to be opened and closed safely.

The bottom (25) (see Figure 4) of the inner compartment (15) comprises a deformable area (26) at the bottom of the bag, which is suitable for receiving a waste container and which is intended to safely collect waste of any kind (syringes, bandages, compresses, ...) during use, which can then be safely disposed of later.

In a further embodiment, which is shown in Figure 5, the first backpack is provided with a second backpack (50) which has on its outside marking means (51), a net

(52) and a handle (53). According to the invention, the second backpack (50) is detachably connected to the first backpack (1) by a zipper (60). This second backpack (50), which is advantageously less voluminous than the first backpack, is intended to contain various utensils, such as rescue blankets, clothing, climbing equipment and other devices, which should preferably not be mixed with the medical equipment.

Depending on the user’s preference, the wearer can use only the backpack with medical contents, or attach an additional second backpack (50) to it.

The backpack according to the invention offers numerous advantages. One can cite:

- it offers maximum safety for the user while taking up minimal space;

- easy access to the equipment;

- the safe storage of the devices, which remain conveniently attached to the backpack;

- the versatility, as it can be connected to conventional carrying bags.

This type of backpack is particularly useful for rescue missions or other missions under difficult conditions, especially in the mountains.

Claims (6)

EXPECTATIONS 1. Backpack comprising a bag (1) with a stiffened back part (2) and a carrying harness (3) consisting of two straps (5,6) and a belt (7) connected to the fixed back, the bag (1) having a closable opening (10) extending from a lower edge (12) of the lower part of the bag over the upper part (14) of the bag to the other edge (13) of the lower part of the bag, whereby, together with the stiffened back part, an inner compartment (15) and a cover (16) that can be folded forwards relative to the wearer are defined, characterized by the fact that - the bottom (18) of the inside of the inner compartment (15) as well as the inside (19) of the cover (16) carry a plurality of parallel, transverse, quick-release fastener tapes (30, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37) which serve to fasten individual pockets (20 - 23) suitable for filling, the opposite sides of which also carry quick-release fastener tapes (40) which cooperate with the respective quick-release fastener tapes (30-32, 35-37) of the bottom (18) of the inner compartment (15) and the cover (16) in order to fasten the pockets there; and - each individual pocket (20-23) is connected to the cover (16) or the inner compartment (15) by a strap (29). 2. Backpack according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that - the strap (29) is removable and adjustable in length. - &iacgr;&ogr; - 3.
