Trapezprofile dienen bisher lediglich als Wetterschutz und Wärmedämmung gegenüber der Außenwelt, gelegentlich auch als Werbeträger für ein großes Firmenlogo. Diese Flächen könnten jedoch auch als Tragestrukturen für die Photovoltaische Energieerzeugung genutzt werden. Sie bieten ein erhebliches Flächenpotential, das bei einer verstärkten Nutzung regenerativer Energien zum Schutz der Umwelt erschlossen werden muß.Trapezoidal profiles have so far only served as weather protection and thermal insulation against the outside world, and occasionally as advertising media for a large company logo.
