HANDGUN WITH ERGONOMIC GRIP

The invention relates to a handgun with a grip that has a grip area, in front of it in the direction of fire a trigger area with a trigger lever and trigger guard and a straight guide track for a barrel slide at the top, whereby the trigger lever and trigger guard determine the direction of the shooter's trigger finger.

Such pistols have to meet particularly high demands in terms of handling, operation and accuracy. Satisfying these demands requires careful study not only of the ergonomic conditions (hand position, muscle tension, fatigue) when shooting, but also of the shooter's preceding movements; in particular, the instinctive defensive shot (German shot) that occurs in police and military operations. In order to tire the hand as little as possible, the tipping moment exerted on the hand by the recoil of the weapon should be as small as possible. In addition, law enforcement weapons are serial products that cannot be individually adjusted.

A weapon of this type is described in DE 30 00 017 Al. The grip consists of a frame which has a normal grip plate in the grip area and a trigger area in front of the grip plate, the general direction of which is inclined upwards towards the guide track.

With this and other previously known anatomical shapes in the grip area, there is no sufficient support for the

Fingers of the shooting or support hand. Furthermore, the trigger finger becomes tense at the side. In addition, the roughened areas in the grip area are not nearly enough to achieve the desired effect or they are misplaced or poorly formed.

FR 2 386 Oil A describes a sporting weapon whose grip is precisely shaped to the hand of a specific shooter for competitive shooting. This grip design is unsuitable for practical use because it makes the aforementioned previous movements very difficult. In particular, the front and back of the grip area should run essentially parallel in order to achieve a consistent grip angle. The shape on the front of the grip above the spur, with its essentially straight downward shape, means that the middle finger of the shooting hand is pushed downward, which negatively affects the comfort of holding the weapon and the recoil behavior.

Pistols known from practice (various catalogs from FRANKONIA) with a downward-sloping trigger area either do not provide sufficient support for the ball of the hand, and/or the thumb, trigger finger and middle finger do not have a rest in a relaxed position, and/or the middle finger does not have a safety catch against slipping downwards. This is particularly necessary with a downward-sloping trigger area in order to provide relaxed guidance, quick handling and accuracy.

The aim of the invention is therefore to design the grip as a whole and in particular the grip area in an anatomically more favourable way, with good holding comfort, with better control of the weapon recoil as well as with better operability under time pressure. The weapon should fit into as many hands as possible (including

in a left hand) and have a pleasing shape.

According to the invention, this is achieved by

a) the trigger area with the trigger lever and trigger guard determine a direction that is inclined downwards at an angle with respect to the guideway,

b) the rear side has a depression in the upper area of approximately half a finger's width, to which are connected on both sides depressions approximately the length of a thumb pointing towards the trigger area, which are approximately the width of a thumb and whose lower slope rises to the lower grip area, and

c) on the front of the handle there is a wall-like elevation approximately one middle finger width below the trigger guard.

This provides several advantages. Firstly, the shooter's trigger finger can remain pointing slightly downwards due to the direction of the trigger lever and trigger guard and the recess on both sides, meaning that the trigger finger does not experience any lateral tension. Secondly, the recess on the rear means that the force vector of the recoil runs very close to the hand, meaning that the tipping moment remains very small and the grip cannot move upwards in the shooter's hand. Nevertheless, there is enough space further forward between the guide track and the trigger mechanism for the trigger mechanism and for safety devices.

The recess on the back improves the support and positioning of the ball of the thumb of the shooting hand without it being able to slide downwards. The thumb-shaped recesses on both sides accommodate the thumb and the base of the fingers of the shooting hand, regardless of whether it is the right or the left, and allow the elevation to be adjusted with feeling and reproducibility. These two features serve to protect the hand and ensure accuracy.

The wall-like elevation serves to support the middle finger of the shooting hand. The middle finger is thus directly connected to the trigger guard and is not deflected downwards away from the trigger finger. This means that there is no lateral tension between these two fingers. Furthermore, the wall-like elevation prevents the middle finger from being pushed downwards, which would impair the comfort of the grip and recoil behavior. The formation of further wall-like elevations for the remaining fingers would not be effective because their shape varies too much from individual to individual.

In a further development of the invention, a magazine release button that can be operated from both sides protrudes on both sides, essentially at the height of the trigger lever and outside the thumb-length recess. The magazine release button that can be operated from both sides is thus located in the raised part of the grip. It can be operated from both the left and the right, so it is equally easy to reach for left- and right-handed shooters. This prevents the magazine release button from being accidentally activated by the middle finger or thumb of the shooting hand.

Preferably, the handle itself has the aforementioned ergonomic shapes and designs. In a modified embodiment, covers or a cover or shells made of a solid or elastic rough material are attached to the handle in the grip area, which contain the anatomical shapes and designs according to the invention.

A safety button 34 above and slightly in front of the trigger lever 5 has wings 35 on both sides that protrude through a window 36 in the trigger area 4 of the handle 1. A safety device containing a safety button 34 is the subject of the Austrian patent application A 2014/95.

The trigger guard 6, which is aligned in direction 10 (Fig. 1), has a branch 37 at the front that rises to the front part 7, the outer surface 38 of which is roughened. Above the recess 24 and/or the indentation 32, a recess 40 with a contour 44 is provided, which partially accommodates a bolt catch lever 41, the rest of which protrudes to the side. Thumbnail-sized recesses 43 are provided on the lower edges 42 of the sides of the handle 3, which allow access to a grooved surface 46 of the magazine 8. 45 also indicates an attachment option for an additional device.

Finally, Fig. 3 shows the same pistol as Fig. 2, but with the shooter's hand. Without providing individual reference symbols for the fingers, the ergonomically particularly advantageous finger position can be seen. The index finger points slightly downwards without tension, the middle finger is relatively close to the index finger. The thumb and the other fingers are also comfortably and precisely positioned, without unnecessarily restricting the freedom of movement necessary for quick firing.
