Serving and side table

The invention relates to a serving and side table with a table top, supported on four table legs provided with rollers, of which at least two rollers are designed as trailing swivel rollers, and provided with at least one handle element.

On the one hand, serving and side tables of the type mentioned are known in a variety of designs, including those that are mobile as serving and side tables and are used to bring dishes, food, etc., and which can also be used for clearing away. It is often a question of space here as to whether and how such serving and side tables are used. Space-saving designs are known to be those that can be folded up so that the serving and side table can be placed in a narrow space. This solution is unsatisfactory in many cases,

because such gaps are usually located where the serving and side table is not needed. It is also hardly possible to place the serving and side table under a table that is in use, because the handle element of the serving and side table - in order to be ergonomically positioned - is at a height that prohibits it from being pushed underneath.

This is where the invention comes in, which is based on the task of developing known mobile serving and side tables in such a way that they can be easily pushed under an existing table.

This problem is solved by the features of the characterizing part of the main claim; advantageous further developments and preferred embodiments are described by the features contained in the subclaims.

Since serving and side tables always have a table height that is less than the clear height under a table top of a normal table furniture, the handle element of the serving and side table is lowered to or below the level of the table top in order to make it possible to slide it under, whereby the level of the table top is the height that corresponds to the free space under the table top. Here, the free ends of the push bar are designed as essentially straight extensions and are slidably inserted into the hollow table legs. The serving and side table has an upper storage surface, which is preferably provided with a surrounding coaming. A lower storage surface is also advantageously provided. At least one of these storage surfaces is advantageously formed by a removable tray, which is inserted into corresponding holders on the four table legs of the serving and side table.

In order to achieve this lowering, in one embodiment two pull handles form the gripping element, each in connection with a table leg. These push handles can be sunk into the table legs,

so that the upper edge of the serving and side table top forms its maximum height. In these cases of lowering, the handle attachments are coaxial with the hollow table legs, which form a tube.

Instead of two push handles, it is advantageous in an alternative embodiment to use a push bar with a crossbar connecting both table legs. Such a push bar can also be recessed, for which purpose the free ends of the push bar - analogous to the attachments of the push handles - are designed as essentially straight attachments and are slidably inserted into the hollow table legs. The top of the serving and side table has a corresponding recess in the area of the push bar, so that the inserted push bar of the push bar lies in this recess.

Another embodiment is based on a handle element designed as a push bar, the free ends of which are hinged to one of the table legs of a pair of table legs of the serving and side table. The push bar can be pivoted by this hinge. This hinge is on the inside of the two table legs of the pair of table legs of the serving and side table, so that the push bar can be pivoted between the table legs.

In all of these cases, locking devices ensure that the handle elements are at least in the extended or swung-out position for pushing. These locking devices can be released with a simple movement of the hand, for example by pushing back a locking lug or a locking cam.

In a preferred development, the table top is height-adjustable. For this purpose, the table top is provided with support rods that can be inserted into the tubular stand tubes. It goes without saying that instead of support rods, holding sleeves can also be provided that grip the stand tubes. In both cases, locking means are provided that hold the table top in the raised position.

The castors on the lower ends of the table legs of the serving and side table are advantageously swivel castors, which allow for easy maneuvering in tight spaces. It is also advantageous if at least one of the castors is provided with a locking device. This locking device is preferably arranged on one of the castors of one of the two table legs of the serving and side table provided with the handle bar. This means that the serving and side table can be locked by the person pushing it with one step.

The serving and side table is advantageously used in combination with a fixed table, whereby all the rollers arranged at the lower ends of the rolling table legs are designed as trailing swivel rollers to slide the serving and side table under a fixed table. These rollers make it possible to slide the serving and side table across the length direction under a fixed table, which is positioned with its long sides against a wall and whose narrow sides are not accessible, for example because of a bench. The upper edge of the table top is arranged at a lower level than the lower edge of the top of the fixed table or the sides supporting the top. It is also advantageous if the fixed table is provided with means for securing the serving and side table that is pushed under; this prevents the serving and side table from moving on its own, for example due to careless movements, and thus causing accidents. It is also advantageous if the table furniture has walls and doors on one side, the slide-in side, which turn it into a cupboard-like piece of furniture in which the serving and side table can be hidden and stored.

Figure 1 shows the serving and side table 1 with a table 9 under which the serving and side table 1 can be placed. The serving and side table 1 has four stand tubes 2, at the lower ends of which there are swivel castors 3, of which at least one is advantageously arranged on the operating side and is provided with a locking device 3.1. A table top 5 is provided at the upper end of the stand tubes 2, and a storage plate 6 is provided at the lower end. Furthermore, a handle element 7 with a handle 7.1 is attached to the upper ends of the stand tubes 2 so that it can be lowered below the upper edge of the table top 5. The upper edge of the table top 5 is lower than the lower edge of the table top of the table 9, so that the serving and side table 1, which can be moved thanks to its castors 3, can be pushed under a table 9 and placed there.

In order to ensure that it can be pushed under, the handle element 7 with handle 7.1 is attached to the stand tubes 2 in such a way that the handle element can be lowered into or below the upper edge of the table top 5 supported by table top holders 5.1. In one embodiment, the handle element 7 has holding rods 11 that can be pushed into the hollow tubes of the stand tubes 2 so that the handle element can be lowered, as shown in Figures 2. In order to achieve a secure position of the raised handle element 7, a locking mechanism 12 is provided that engages when the holding rods 11 are pulled and thus fixes the position of the holding rods 11. The locking mechanism 12 is released by pressing so that the holding rods

11 become free and can be inserted into the stand tubes 2. In the version shown, the stand tubes 2 are shortened compared to the upper edge of the table top 5, so that the inserted handle element 7 with its handle 7.1 lies under the upper edge of the table top 5.

In another embodiment shown in Figure 3, the handle is hinged to the stand tubes 2 with a bolt 13. A lock 16 secures the position of the handle 7 in the swiveled-out position. Swivel arms 14 are provided for the hinge of the handle 7. In order to achieve an ergonomically favorable angular position of the handle 7 intended for pushing, the swivel arms 14 are provided with bends 15, whereby the angle for this bend 15 is selected so that an ergonomically favorable position of the swiveled-out handle 7 is achieved. A spring bolt guided through the stand tubes 2 is provided as the lock 16, which can engage in recesses provided on the bend to provide a locking effect.

In a third embodiment shown in Figures 4, the swivel arms 14 are provided with elongated holes 17 which have keyhole-like constrictions 18. Here the swivel bolt 13 is designed so that it can be swiveled in the lowered position and that when the swiveled-out position is reached the handle element can be pushed back and the shaft of the swivel bolt 13 has a flattening 13.1 so that a swivel movement is blocked in the area of the constriction. To lower it, the handle element 7 is pulled so that the swivel bolt 13 emerges from the constriction 18 and allows swiveling in the area of the wider area of the elongated hole 17.

It goes without saying that other types of locking mechanisms can also be used here, as it only matters that the handle element 7 is lowered below the upper edge of the table top 5 when the mobile or rollable serving and side table is to be pushed under a table piece of furniture and placed there.

Serving and side table according to one of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that both the stand tubes (2) of the serving and side table (1) and the free end(s) of the handle element (7) have locking means (16; 17, 18) which interact with one another and with which at least the extended or raised position of the handle element(s) (7) can be releasably fixed. 12. Table combination with a serving and side table according to one of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that in order to slide the serving and side table (1) under a fixed table (9), all of the rollers (3) arranged at the lower ends of the stand tubes (2) of the serving and side table (1) are designed as trailing swivel rollers, wherein the upper edge of the table top (5) of the serving and side table (1) is arranged at a lower level than the lower edge of the table top of the fixed table (9) or of the cheeks supporting the table top. 13. Table combination according to claim 12, characterized in that the table furniture (9) is provided with walls and at least on one side with a single door or with a double door.
