Bracket for tension wires

The innovation concerns a bracket for horizontally mounted holding or tension wires, which in conjunction with wooden or plastic posts are used to secure and stabilize vines or wire mesh.

Up to now, these tension wires have been attached with staples or nails by hammering them into the vertical wooden or plastic posts.

This hammering in is often very difficult, especially with hard wood or plastic materials, since the springback of the posts, some of which are 2 m high, means that even a proper hammering or driving in tends to result in insufficient anchoring of the staples or nails.

This inadequate fastening is a disadvantage, especially when using harvesters during the grape harvest, as the tension wires can come loose and possibly cause damage to the harvester.

When using posts for wildlife fences, care must be taken to ensure that the tension wires are securely fastened in order to properly secure the fence mesh, which is not always possible with the usual fastening methods. In the event of major stresses caused by storms or ice, the entire fence mesh can collapse under certain circumstances.

The aim of the innovation is to create a fastening method that is simple and reliable, even in extreme

loads to ensure a secure hold of the tension wires.

This task is solved by drilling through holes in the wooden or plastic posts at any interval during the production of the posts to accommodate specially made holding elements. These holding elements can consist of wire pins bent at 90° or more on one side, which are inserted through these holes and can then also be bent at the straight end using pliers. In an advantageous design, these wire pins can also be provided with a thread on both sides, whereby the tension wires can be securely anchored using special screwed-on tabs.

The post 1 made of wood or plastic material shown in Figure 1 is provided with one or more through holes 2, the distance between which corresponds to the requirements. After the post has been inserted into the ground, retaining elements 3, e.g. wire pins 3 bent on one side, are inserted into these holes 2, which can be bent by 90' or more on the straight side 4 after insertion. The tension wires 5 can then be inserted and, if necessary, finally secured by further bending the retaining elements 3.

Figure 2 shows the view of the pile 1 rotated by 90° with the holding elements 3 and the tension wires 5, with the straight side 4 bent accordingly.

Figure 3 shows a holding element, e.g. a wire pin 3, with one side already bent.

Figure 4 shows a holding element with two opposing threaded projections 6 and the attached holding tabs 7.
