Auch normale Haushaitkühlschränke und elektrische (Camping-) Kühlboxen sind zum Weinkühlen verwendbar. Alle haben den Nachteil, daß die gewünschte Temperatur des Weines nicht genau einstellbar ist. Die Temperatur wird durch Fühlen mit der Hand an der Flasche abgeschätzt. Zu diesem Zweck muß die Flasche des öfteren dem Kühlschrank bzw. der Kühlbox entnommen werden. Das ist sehr umständlich und das Eindringen von Wärme beim häufigen Öffnen der Kühlschränke bzw. An der Außenseite des Gehäuses 1 ist eine optische Anzeige 6 in Form einer Lampe angebracht, die mit dem Schalter des Kühlgeräts verbunden ist.
