Profiled glass retaining strip

The invention relates to a self-retaining profiled glass retaining strip which is used in conjunction with other components when glazing windows with a wooden frame or windows with divided glass. Preferably, windows with insulating glass are used in this case.

In the window industry, windows with plastic frames cover a large market share. However, it can be assumed that there will also be windows with wooden frames and corresponding windows with bars in the future. To a certain extent, it is also a question of taste, which is influenced by the manufacturers, when in recent years investors have been demanding windows with a plastic frame and a large window area, i.e. without bars. The current return to natural products in many areas of life is currently contributing to the fact that the installation of windows with wooden frames is being demanded more frequently. The aim of these statements is to say that windows with wooden frames and bars will also be used in the future. Accordingly, the invention makes suggestions that relate exclusively to windows with wooden frames - possibly with bars.

According to the state of the art, the glass is held in the wooden frame by a glass retaining strip, which was initially nailed in the visible area and later nailed in the hidden area under a silicone joint.

Nailing in a visible area ensures that the glazing bead is held firmly in place. The effort of filling in the nail holes (or something similar) is expensive and a matter of taste. To reduce costs, the nails were later used invisibly, although in new buildings the extremely high humidity levels can cause the glazing bead to gape.

If it is necessary to make changes in the case of a glass replacement, a considerable amount of work is required. In this case, the silicone must be cut open, the nailed glass retaining strips must be mechanically removed and the nails pulled out, which sometimes causes damage.

If divided glass panes with bars are required, no other installation is required than that previously described for large-area panes.

In summary, it can be said that the previous manufacturing method met the requirements that users had for windows with wooden frames. The ever-increasing demands of users for a tasteful design cannot be satisfied in the future with the current manufacturing method. However, the cost factor must not be overlooked.

Manual glazing, whether prefabricated or on site, has a significant impact on product costs due to the amount of time required. This is of course even more important when divided panes of glass with bars are required and the high costs of glazing each partial area are incurred due to the laborious manual work.

The aim of the invention is therefore to significantly rationalize glazing, whether during prefabrication or primarily on site. The amount of manual work is to be reduced with the help of modified components. Rationalization should in no way result in compromises in quality - on the contrary, the invention should guarantee a tight seal between the glass and the wooden frame for many years (for a lifetime).

According to the invention, the problem is solved as follows, with reference to claim 1 for the basic ideas. The further features of the invention are set out in claims 2 to 6.

As can be seen from the protection claims, a profiled glass retaining strip is an essential construction element in the new way of glazing windows. The idea is that the profiled glass retaining strip is connected to the frame wood according to the dovetail/dovetail groove principle and strips for backing, i.e. between the profiled glass retaining strip and the glass, are arranged in such a way that the clamping effect of the strips ensures that the glass is firmly seated in the frame.

Special suggestions are necessary for the installation and removal of the glass retaining strips; in the following we will refer to the "screwing in" of the glass retaining strips. This screwing in takes place parallel to the surface of the window pane and is necessary due to the special design of the glass retaining strips. The example contains more detailed information on this.

Now a few comments are necessary regarding the design and arrangement of the components that are required for windows with window crosses.

The profile of the glazing bead, which is a glass-divided bar, must be designed differently than the glazing bead for the window frame, whereby in a broader sense it can also be referred to as a clamping effect, but in combination with a positive connection. Special strips engage in the profile of the bar according to the tongue and groove principle, whereby these strips ensure that the glass is held in place. The principle of the clamping effect and the positive connection can be used for windows with a cross bar or only for windows with a central bar.

It should also be pointed out that the construction method described for rectangular windows can also be applied to windows with other geometric shapes.

The invention will be explained below using two exemplary embodiments.

Example 1:

Example 1 refers to the use of the profiled glass retaining strip in conjunction with the window frame. Reference is made to Figures 1 to 4.

A window with a wooden frame 2 is to be glazed with the insulating glass pane 3. Before glazing begins, an elastic template tape 6 is glued to the wooden frame 2, which enables the insulating glass pane 3 to be evenly supported and compensates for any tension during assembly, when the insulating glass pane 3 is firmly seated.

After the glass has been inserted, the profiled glass retaining strips I are screwed in. In the illustration, as shown in Figure 2, the glass retaining strip 1 is inserted into the lower part of the frame 2. Based on the geometric shape of the glass retaining strip 1 in the view according to Figure 2, the glass retaining strips 1 are also "screwed in" on the sides and the upper part of the frame 2. In the case of the glass retaining strip 1 to be screwed in last, millings 9 can be seen in the miter area according to Figure 3, which are necessary in order to be able to screw in the last one with the geometric shape of the glass retaining strip 1 according to Figure 3. The millings are filled with compression tape or similar after assembly.

The dovetail 7 and the dovetail groove 8, each formed on one side, have an angle α of approximately 75°. This ensures that the glass retaining strips 1 are firmly seated in the frame 2 if the strips 4 for lining the glass retaining strip 1 are inserted tightly between the latter and the insulating glass 3, whereby the length of the strips 4 is such that there is enough space between the ends of the strips 4 and the frame 1 that the strips 4 can be easily pulled out again with a hook when removing the glass. The strip 4 according to Figure 4 is shown in the position shown as it is inserted into the lower part of the frame. This results in the tight arrangement of the other strips 4. The joints 5 are closed with silicone.

When removing the glass, the silicone is cut open with a thin knife blade between the insulating glass 3 and the strip 4 for backing, and the same is done between the strip 4 and the glass retaining strip 1. The strips 4 can then be pulled using hooks. The glass retaining strips I are then pressed towards the insulating glass pane 3 and unscrewed. First, only the milled glass retaining strip can be unscrewed. All strips are freed of silicone with a simple cut and can be reused.

The rung profile 10 for glass-divided rungs has a profile as shown in Figure 5. After arranging the rung profile 10 as shown in Figure 5, strips 11 are inserted into the profile to hold the glass. The cover and retaining strip 12 is now attached to provide a cover and to hold and secure the strips 11. The cover and retaining strip 12 is connected to the rung profile 10 in a somewhat detachable manner using double-sided adhesive tape or small instant adhesive dots. Once the cover and retaining strip has been attached, it is held in place by sealing the joint 5 with silicone at the end.

Disassembly is carried out in reverse order. The silicone joint is cut open, the cover and retaining strip 12 is pulled down (therefore only staple it during assembly) and the strips 11 are pulled out. This frees up the glass for replacement.

The profiled glass retaining strip 1 and the strips 4 or the strips 11 and the cover and retaining strip 12 ensure a firm fit in the window frame or in the case of a split glass pane, depending on the application.

A further advantage of the invention is the simplicity of a possible glass replacement in the event of damage or in the case of glazing that is only carried out on site.

Claims (6)

Protection claims 1. Profiled glass retaining strip, which is used in conjunction with other components for glazing windows with a wooden frame, characterized in that the part of the self-retaining profiled glass retaining strip (1) which is recessed in the wooden frame (2) is provided with a dovetail (7) formed on one side, as a counterpart the dovetail groove (8) formed on one side is located in the wooden frame (1), as a further component a strip (4) for tightly lining the glass retaining strip (1) is required, which is placed between the profiled glass retaining strip (1) and the insulating glass pane (3) in such a way that a firm fit of the insulating glass pane (3) is guaranteed. 2. Profiled glass retaining strip according to claim 1, characterized in that the angle of the dovetail groove is approximately 75°. 3. Profiled glass retaining strip according to claim 1, characterized in that, starting from the distance between the profiled glass retaining strip (1) and the insulating glass pane (3), the strip (4) for lining the glass retaining strip (1) is dimensioned such that a tight fit of the glass retaining strip is ensured after assembly. 4. Profiled glass retaining strip according to claim 1, characterized in that the strips (4) are dimensioned in such a way that there is enough space between the ends of the strips (4) and the frame (1) that in the event of dismantling the strips can be pulled out with a hook. 5. Profiled glass retaining strip according to claim 1, characterized in that the last glass retaining strip (1) to be screwed in has milled recesses (9) at the corners in the miter area. 6.
