The innovation concerns an element for connecting surfaces and/or bodies, in particular for forming shelves and bodies in the furniture sector.

Connections between individual surfaces and/or bodies in the furniture sector are usually achieved by screwing the individual elements together. This usually results in stable connections, which, however, require the use of tools both during assembly and disassembly and, in the case of furniture made from prefabricated elements, where different geometries are to be created, require the provision of system holes. However, for system connections that enable the elements to be arranged in a modular manner, a connecting element designed for the respective furniture connection is usually provided, e.g. for a corner, a 3-way connection (T-joint) or a cross; this leads to a larger number of different elements (cf. "Endless shelf", trade magazine design report, 1997, issue 3, page 15). In other cases, prefabricated elements are inserted into one another or connected in another way in such a way that addition is only possible in one direction (horizontally or vertically), i.e. a decision about the final size of the furniture must be made from the outset, or subsequent adjustment of the furniture to the possibly changed requirements of the user is not possible or only possible to a very limited extent.

The invention is based on the object of enabling a tool-free connection of panels and/or frames to form a modular, spatial structure with a small number of different elements, which can be assembled or disassembled with little effort and subsequently expanded or modified.

The assembly takes place in 2 steps: First, the horizontal panels to be connected are guided onto the longer brackets, but without moving the connectors all the way. Only when these panels also rest with their recesses on the shorter brackets are the connectors pushed in from both sides all the way. Since the bracket is guided on a longer piece in the horizontal direction, the connectors must also be pulled off by a larger piece for horizontal addition.

Figure 1 shows the appearance of the connecting element. The individual elements are: clamp for horizontal addition (1), clamp for vertical addition (2), guide cubes (3), stop (4),

Figure 2 shows the situation during assembly. First, the horizontal clamps (1) of the connecting elements are simultaneously inserted into the recesses (5) of the panels (6) until they fix them in place. The vertical panel/panels (6) are then brought up to this connection so that the clamps for the vertical addition (2) point towards the recesses. To close the connection, all that is left to do now is to press the two furniture connectors simultaneously in the direction of the panel until the panels (6) and the stop (4) make contact. Disassembly is carried out in the reverse order.

Figure 3 shows the appearance of the connector and the plates (6) when assembled. Due to the smaller width of the stop (4) in relation to the height, the base plates rest on the cheeks. The adjusted rear wall (7) stiffens the system.

Figure 4 shows a section through a horizontal connection. It can be seen that the clamp (1) fills the recess (5) of the plates (6) except for a small clearance.

Figure 5 shows a section through a vertical connection. It can be seen that the clamp (2) only fills a small part of the recess (5) in the plates (6).

Figure 6 shows the possible arrangement of the recesses (5) in a plate (6).

Figure 7 shows a closed connection without guide cubes. It can be seen that the longer clamp for the horizontal connection (1) almost completely fills the recess in the plate (5), while the shorter clamp for the vertical connection (2) only fills a small area of the recess (5).

Claims (8)

Furniture connector, characterized in that panels and/or frames (6) with opposite diagonal recesses (5) are held together by means of V-shaped clamps (1, 2) which engage in these recesses. 2.) Furniture connector according to claim 1, characterized in that two V-shaped clamps (1, 2) are arranged in a component so that horizontal and vertical panels and/or frames (6) are connected to one another. 3.) Furniture connector according to claim 2, characterized in that the clamp for the vertical connection (2) is shorter than that for the horizontal connection (1), so that successive joining in the horizontal and vertical directions is possible. 4.) Furniture connector according to claims 1 - 3, characterized in that the component has guides (3) for the panels and/or frames (6), which are preferably designed as cubes. 5.) Furniture connector according to claims 1-4, characterized in that the component has a stop (4) for the panels and/or frames (6). 6.) Furniture connector according to claims 1-5, characterized in that the clamps (1,2) are preferably made of metal or plastic, in a casting or stamping process. 7.) Furniture connector according to claims 1 and 4, characterized in that the opposite diagonal recesses (5) in the panels and/or frames are not filled with V-shaped clamps, but with differently shaped, for example cylindrical, fitting elements which are fastened between the guides (3). 8.) Furniture connector according to claims 1-3, characterized in that the angle of inclination of the clamps for vertical (2) and horizontal (1) connection is identical so that the panels and/or frames (6) can be used both as a cheek (vertical) and as a floor (horizontal).
