Folding box

The invention relates to a folding box made of box wall material.

Such folding boxes are primarily used as packaging in retail stores.

The invention is based on the object of providing a folding box which, while being as simple and cost-effective to manufacture as possible, requires as little space as possible when unfolded and enables easy assembly as well as convenient and safe transport of the assembled box. 15

This object is achieved by a folding box specified in claim 1.

The folding box according to the invention has a first and a second flat strip made of box wall material, which first strip consists of four side wall parts and which second strip consists of a base wall part, two side wall parts and a first and a second cover wall part, two of the side wall parts of the first strip completely covering two corresponding side wall parts of the second strip and the two cover wall parts, and at least one of the two cover wall parts has a cut-out carrying handle which is inserted through a recess provided in the other cover wall part.

Following the principle of the invention, it can be advantageously provided that the further cover wall part also has a cut-out carrying handle, the shape of which corresponds to that of the first carrying handle, and which is inserted through a recess assigned to the carrying handle of the first cover wall part.

The figures show a folding box with two flat strips 1 and 2 made of flexible box wall material such as paper, cardboard or the like. The strip 1 has four side wall parts 4, 5, 6, 7; the strip 2 has a base part 3, side wall parts 5a and 8, the parts 5a and 8 extending from the base part and being delimited by the fold lines 9 and 10, the side wall parts 4 and 6 extending from part 5 and being delimited by fold lines 11 and 12, and the part 7 extending from the side wall part 6 and being delimited by a fold line 13. The side wall part 7 is preferably provided with an end flap 14 and a closure 15 hinged to it, which is inserted into slots 16 provided for this purpose in the side wall part 4. A first cover wall part 17 is hinged along a fold line 18 to the side wall part 5a, a second cover wall part 18 is hinged along a fold line 19 to the side wall part 8. The first cover wall part 17 has a partially detached handle flap 20 with a hand hole 21 and a foldable handle reinforcement 22. Accordingly, the second cover wall part 18 has a partially detached handle flap 23 with a hand hole 24. Both cover wall parts 17 and 18 are provided with recesses 25 and 26 in which the handle

flaps 20 and 23 are alternately accommodated when the box is in the upright position.

When assembling the box, no adhesive or other fastening means are required. The two strips 1 and 2 are folded along the specified fold lines so that the side wall parts 5 and 5a, as well as 7 and 8, lie on top of one another and the free edges correspond to the fold lines 9 and 18 or 10 and 19. The belt of the box is held together by bending and inserting the closure 15 into the slots 16 provided for this purpose. The article to be packaged can now be placed in the container, which is open at the top on one side, and then closed. To do this, the two cover wall parts 17 and 18 are brought into an overlapping position, with the hand flap 23 first being brought through the opening created after bending the hand flap 20, whereby the hand flaps 20 and 23 come to lie against one another. Finally, the handle reinforcement 22 can be folded over the handle 23.

The embodiment of the invention not only enables the folding box to be handled comfortably, but also ensures that the box remains stable in an upright, closed position, whereby the box, which consists of a single flat strip, is extremely simple and inexpensive to produce and takes up minimal space when unfolded. The special design of the handle also enables the safe transport of relatively heavy goods such as a cake or the like.

A folding box made of a first and a second flat strip (1, 2) of box wall material, which first strip consists of four side wall parts (4, 5, 6, 1) and which second strip (2) consists of a base wall part (3), two side wall parts (5a, 8) and a first and a second cover wall part (17, 18), wherein two of the side wall parts (5, 7) of the first strip (1) completely overlap with two corresponding side wall parts (5a, 8) of the second strip (2) and the two cover wall parts (17, 18), and at least one (18) of the two cover wall parts has a cut-out carrying handle (23) which is inserted through a recess (25) provided in the other cover wall part (17). 2. Folding box according to claim 1, characterized in that the further lid wall part (17) also has a cut-out carrying handle (20) whose shape corresponds to that of the first carrying handle (23) and which is inserted through a recess (26) associated with the carrying handle (23) of the first lid wall part (18). 3. Folding box according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the at least one carrying handle (20, 23) protrudes on all sides at a distance from the edge of the lid wall part (17, 18) supporting it.
