Packaging unit for rod or profile-like goods

The invention relates to a packaging unit for rod-like or profile-like goods, consisting of an elongated, box-like container and a flat lid part that can be fixed on it. For the transport or shipping of elongated profiles, appropriately long wooden boxes are used with an appropriate wooden lid part. This packaging unit is usually closed with strapping bands. The profiles or rods to be shipped must be protected due to their instability and their frequently processed surface. For this reason, stable packaging units are required. Simple plastic or cardboard sleeves with strapping or adhesive are not sufficient for this. The well-known wooden boxes, which are used multiple times, are relatively complex to manufacture. They require a relatively large transport space when transported empty.

Single-use packaging units made of plastic or cardboard are also no longer economically viable due to the high waste costs.

The object of the invention is to propose a reusable packaging unit for rod- or profile-like goods that allows the smallest possible transport space both when transporting filled and when transporting empty and requires little use of materials.

The object of the invention is achieved with a packaging unit with the features of claim 1. Such packaging units only require very thin-walled constructions for the container, since the side walls and the base provide sufficient support through the removable support profiles that surround the profiles. When transported empty, these containers can be stacked inside one another and therefore require only a small amount of transport space, whereby the flat lid parts can be shipped with a small amount of transport space anyway. The packaging units can be easily dismantled by removing the support profiles and then stacked inside one another with the lid removed.

With the packaging unit mentioned in the further subclaims, a shape that is approximately rectangular in cross-section and largely smooth on the outside is achieved, which makes stacking the closed unit easier and saves transport space. Preferably, such closed packaging units are braced or glued in single or multiple arrangements with wrapping tapes. The support profiles, which are arranged at a fixed distance, also form stand-up devices. According to claim 8, with a corresponding lid design, they can also facilitate the secure stackability of such packaging units on top of one another. Between the support profiles, hollow spaces are achieved below the container, which can be used, for example, to drive forks from

The invention is explained in more detail below using an illustrated embodiment. It shows:

The container of the packaging unit shown consists of an elongated, U-shaped cross-section extruded profile 1, the front sides of which are closed by attached front wall parts 18. Corresponding extruded profiles made of metal are also suitable. Such profile sections can also be made from rolled or folded sheets, for example. Both the very thin-walled side walls 11 and the front wall parts 18 are slightly inclined at least on the inside, so that the containers can be stacked one inside the other. The number 19 indicates corner reinforcements 19 in the area where the base 17 is connected to the side walls 11, which reinforce the cross-section, in the form of concave grooves or ribs.

The outer sections of the side walls 11 are designed as projecting edge areas 12. These edge areas have an inner edge web 13 that projects upwards and a step 14 that is offset downwards. The flat cover part 2 with the corresponding conical grooves 22 in the area of the respective edge 21 can be clamped onto the two opposite edge webs 13. These grooves 22 are limited by the outer edge web 23 and the inner web

24. The outer edge web 23 rests on the shoulder _14 on the side wall 11 of the profile 1.

From the underside, support profiles 3 are clamped onto the profile 1 at intervals from one another, which engage with strip-like webs 32 on their legs 31 in corresponding grooves 15 on the underside of the projecting edge area 12 on the profiles 1. These grooves 15 are limited by the outer groove webs 16, which rest on the shoulders 33 on the strip-like webs 32. The construction is selected so that the outside of the edge area 21 of the lid part 2, the outer wall of the projecting edge area 12 and the outside of the support profiles 3 are flush with one another, so that the outer wall of the packaging unit forms a smooth surface.

When using extruded plastic profile sections for the container, co-extruded material can be used, with recycled material being used in the interior.

A widening can be provided on the edge web of the cover part at the lower end, which engages in an undercut on the edge web of the profile so that the connection between the two assembled parts is improved.

It is also possible to form a support profile that can be inserted at each end in one piece with a head section, which then forms the front wall section to close the profile section after use. This means that additional fastening of the otherwise separately formed front wall section is not necessary.

The support profiles themselves can be manufactured as plastic injection molded parts but also as metal castings or metal pressed parts .

Claims (13)

Protection claims 1.. Packaging unit for rod-like or profile-like goods, consisting of an elongated, box-like container and a flat lid part that can be fixed thereon, characterized by a container suitable for stacking one inside the other, consisting of a thin-walled profile (1) with an approximately U-shaped cross section, to the front sides of which end wall parts (18) are attached, wherein the lid part (2) equipped with grooves (22) on its longitudinal edges (21) can be placed on the correspondingly designed, outwardly projecting longitudinal edges (12) of the side walls (11) which are slightly inclined on the inside to enable stacking one inside the other, and wherein from the outside a plurality of approximately II-shaped support profiles (3) are removably attached to the profile (1) at intervals, enclosing it, the edges (32, 33) of their legs (31) engaging in grooves (15) on the underside of the outwardly projecting longitudinal edge (12) of the profile (1). 2. Packaging unit according to claim 1, characterized in that the U-shaped profile (1) is an extruded profile made of plastic or metal. 3. Packaging unit according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the cover part (2) overlaps the edge regions (12) of the profile (1), the outer sides of the edges (21) of the cover part being arranged flush with the outer sides of the projecting edge region (12) of the profile. 4. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that an upwardly directed edge web (13) with an outer shoulder (14) is formed on the outwardly projecting edge region (.12) of the profile (1), onto which the cover part (2) with a corresponding groove (22) formed on its underside. 5. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the edge web of the lid part with a widening at the lower end engages in a clamping manner in an undercut on the edge web of the profile. 6. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support profiles (3) enclosing the profile (1) are arranged with their outer walls flush with the outer wall of the projecting edge region (12) of the profile (1). 7. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support profiles (3) engage with a strip-like web (32) formed on their legs (31) pointing upwards and equipped with an outwardly directed shoulder (33) in a corresponding groove (15) on the underside of the projecting edge region (12) of the profile. 8. Packaging unit according to claim 7, characterized in that the strip-like web (32) of the support profile (3) with a widened portion at the end engages in an undercut on the edge web (23) of the cover part (2) or the side wall (11) in a clamping manner. 9. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the profile (1) is stiffened in the transition region from the side wall (11) to the base (17), preferably by a groove (19) or ribs widening the cross section. • * &iacgr;&idigr; 10. Packaging unit according to claim 1, characterized in that the support profiles are held in their width such that they can be received in one or more upper recesses in the lid part when two correspondingly equipped containers are stacked one inside the other. 11. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least one support profile inserted at the end of a packaging unit is equipped with a closed head part and forms the end wall part of the profile. 12. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support profile (3) is manufactured as a plastic injection-molded part. 13. Packaging unit according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support profile (3) is manufactured as a cast metal part or a pressed metal part.
