Suitcases and briefcases in different designs are known from various applications. Umbrellas designed to provide protection against strong sunlight or rain and snow are also known as state of the art.

Travelers and business people often find themselves in a situation where they have to carry an umbrella and a suitcase or briefcase in their hands during a rain shower. The use of both hands is unavoidable. If this person then goes to a ticket machine to buy a ticket, for example, both of their hands are occupied by the umbrella and briefcase. This situation regularly leads to difficulties when using the ticket machine, such that one item (umbrella or suitcase) has to be put down first. Similar situations have also been known, for example, when loading suitcases into vehicles.

The invention relates to a container, in particular of the suitcase type, with the possibility of attaching umbrellas to the suitcase. The firm connection of an umbrella to a suitcase ensures that only one hand has to be used to carry the umbrella and suitcase. The advantage of this is that, for example, at the ticket machine, the suitcase and umbrella can be held with one hand while the machine is operated with the other hand.

Figure 1 shows in simplified form the container (10) proposed according to the invention.
Suitcases, briefcases and other containers for the purpose of transporting objects (10) are usually carried by the user by a handle (11). In Fig. 1, the umbrella for protection against sun or rain is designated by (20). The umbrella pole on which the umbrella is normally carried is designated by 14. For temporarily fastening the umbrella pole (14) to the case (10), a receiving tube (13) is firmly attached to the case. To secure the umbrella pole in the receiving tube, a locking device by means of a pressure ball (16) is provided on the receiving tube. In order to set different umbrella positions in relation to the case, a flexible intermediate piece (15) is provided in the umbrella pole.

The use of this attachment option for umbrellas on suitcases is fundamentally independent of the design of the respective umbrella (parasol, umbrella, single umbrella, double umbrella, with or without a telescopic section in the umbrella pole) and the design of the suitcase (travel suitcase, briefcase, briefcase, school bag, etc.). The position of the mounting tube (13) on the suitcase (10) can be freely selected (outside or inside the suitcase, front or long side of the suitcase).
