State of the art:

Traditional table tennis bats are made of wood (without a covering). The bats are mainly made of layers, with the handle halves being glued to the flat wooden panels.

Innovations of the invention:

The innovations underlying the invention consist, on the one hand, in the manufacture of the racket from spherically shaped (deep-drawn) sheets or plastic plates, which are either welded together, glued (with or without honeycomb) or foamed.

These plates are also provided with the handle part, whereby the handle shells can be individually selected depending on the shape of the hand and the desired weight (material). The handle shells are screwed, riveted, glued or foamed onto the handle.

In addition, the weight and/or the center of gravity of the racket can be varied by using trim weights made of different materials thanks to the round, oval or rectangular trim channel integrated in the racket.

The surrounding edge profile between the metal sheets / plastic plates serves as edge protection against mechanical impacts on the racket.

The lower end of the handle shells is formed by a plug made of metal or plastic, which on the one hand closes the trim channel and on the other hand can accommodate additional trim weights.

Advantages of the new rackets compared to conventional rackets By far:

• Metal / plastic racket cannot "absorb" the rubber adhesive

• Reduction of coating adhesion due to the smooth metal/plastic surface

• Uniform, homogeneous penetration of the ball in contrast to the orthotropic wood properties

• Invariant properties of the new racket in relation to ambient temperature and humidity (the surface is evenly stressed in its plane due to the isotropic properties of the metal/plastic)

• The "trim channel" allows the center of gravity and/or the weight of the racket to be individually adjusted along the handle axis

• Trimming by individually arranging the trim weights made of different materials (e.g. lead/styrofoam) in the trim channel

• No impairment of the club's behavior around the handle axis thanks to the trim channel, so club blade correction is possible at the last "second" without additional effort

Claims (8)

Protection claims: 1. Table tennis racket for table tennis sport, characterized in that the racket (Fig. 1) consists of spherically shaped (deep-drawn) sheets or plastic plates with any desired outline. 2. Table tennis racket according to claim 1 , characterized in that these racket surfaces are welded, glued or connected to one another by the use of foam or honeycomb (Fig. 2). 3. Table tennis racket according to claim 2 , characterized in that the handle part has a step (Fig. 3) which accommodates the shape for the handle shells. The shape of the handle shells is arbitrary. 4. Table tennis racket according to claim 3 , characterized in that the modular handle shells (Fig. 4) are made of metal, plastic (also thermoplastics with memory properties), wood, cork or foam. 5. Table tennis racket according to claim 4 , characterized in that the handles (Fig. 4) correspond to the different, individual hand shapes. 6. Table tennis racket according to claim 5 , characterized in that the weight and/or the center of gravity of the racket can be varied by using trim weights (Fig.8) through the trim channel integrated in the racket (Fig.5). 7. Table tennis racket according to claim 6 , characterized in that the surrounding profile - made of metal or plastic - between the metal sheets / plastic plates serves as edge protection (Fig. 6) of the racket. 8. Table tennis racket according to claim 7 , characterized in that the end plug (Fig.7) at the lower end of the handle closes the trim channel (Fig.5) and itself accommodates additional trim weights.
