Der Zigarettenstrang h läuft über den einen nachgiebigen Teil i eines elektrischen Kontaktes k hinweg und bewirkt durch seine Schwere ein Offenhalten dieses Kontaktes. Sobald nun aus irgendeinem Grunde die Bildung des Zigarettenstranges h aufhört oder mangelhaft vor sich geht, schwingt der Kontaktteil i hoch, wodurch er mit dem Kontaktstück k in Berührung kommt und dadurch der elektrische Stromkreis geschlossen wird (Fig. 3). Die Folge davon ist eine Erregung des Elektromagneten I, welcher nun den schwingend gelagerten Anker m anzieht. Das freie Ende des Ankers m drückt gegen die von einer Feder 0 beeinflußte Kupplungsscheibe c „und bringt letztere außer Berührung mit der Kupplungsscheibe b auf der Zählwerksachse n, und dadurch wird die Kupplung gelöst und das Zählwerk stillgestellt. Sobald die Bildung des Zigarettenstranges wieder vor sich geht, wird erneut der Kontaktteil' i durch das Gewicht des Stranges h niedergedrückt, der Stromkreis dadurch unterbrochen, und der Elektromagnet I läßt den Anker m los.
