Abstract

A locking device is provided on the outer side of a profile that forms the lower end of doors or windows, which allows one end of a film to be fastened there by locking it in place. This avoids screwing or gluing work at the installation site and enables the film to be attached quickly.

The profile also has a locking device for an extension and a special U-profile for an expansion band.

The invention relates to a lower closure of doors or windows with a profile which, when installed, has an upper, a lower, an inner and an outer side.

Such lower end profiles are widely used in the installation of doors or windows and form, for example, the door sill, which is attached to a hard surface. The floor area outside the profile is often filled with concrete or a similar material and a film between the lower end of the doors or windows and the concrete prevents the concrete from flowing under the lower end. Such films are made of ethylene propylene tar rubber, for example, and are screwed or glued to the outside of the profile that forms the lower end of doors or windows.

Screwing the film onto the profile will cause holes in the film, which will reduce the sealing properties of the film. Gluing the film onto the profile, on the other hand, has the disadvantage that contamination on the film or profile often severely impairs the adhesive effect and only special, expensive adhesives can ensure a secure bond between the film and the profile. In addition, in poor weather conditions, particularly high or low temperatures or humidity often mean that satisfactory adhesive bonds are not achieved.

The invention is therefore based on the object of achieving a simple, safe and weather-independent connection between the film and the profile.

This task is achieved with a generic lower closure, in which a locking device is provided in the area of the outer side.

The locking device has the advantage that one end of the film can be designed as a locking element that fits into the locking device. The interaction of the specially shaped film end with the locking device thus creates a secure connection between the film and the profile.

It is advantageous if the locking device is arranged at about the height of the upper side. This allows the film to be pulled up to near the top of the profile and, if the outer side is enlarged, which is found on many profiles, the film can also be glued to the outer side.

The locking device advantageously has a space with an opening. A specially shaped foil end can be inserted into this opening, which interlocks in the opening and can therefore only be pulled out again with increased force. This achieves an ideal interaction between the relatively soft foil material and the relatively hard material of the profile.

One design provides for an additional locking device in the area of the lower side. An extension can be locked into this locking device, which extends the profile downwards. This creates a simple, quick connection between the profile and the extension without damaging the profile - for example when using screws.

It is advantageous if the additional locking device has protruding elements in order to interact with the spring elements. Spring elements made of plastic or aluminum and molded onto the extension can thus engage in the protruding elements of the locking device in order to achieve a secure connection.

Another design provides for a U-profile that is open at the bottom to be attached to the lower side and a holder for an insertable strip to be provided at the lower end of the opposing legs of the U-profile. Tar-soaked strips are used, particularly for renovation thresholds, to create a seal between the threshold and the subfloor. To do this, the sealing strips are inserted into U-profile-shaped rails. These strips then expand and thereby create a tight connection between the threshold and the floor. The holder at the lower end of the opposing legs allows a strip to be inserted that prevents the expansion strip from expanding prematurely and can be removed shortly before the lower end is installed.

The lower end 1 shown in Figure 1 consists essentially of an extruded profile 2 made of aluminum which, when installed, has an upper side 3 and a lower side 4. The inward-facing side of the profile is referred to as the inner side 5 and the side forming the front end of the profile is referred to as the outer side 6.

This profile serves as the lower end of a door, of which the door leaf 7 is shown in the figure.

The area adjacent to the closure 1 on the outside is filled with concrete 8 and a film 9 made of ethylene-propylene-tar rubber runs from the outer side 6 of the closure downwards and under the concrete layer in such a way that the uncured concrete is prevented from flowing under the lower closure 1 of the door. This film has a Shore hardness of 40 - 80 degrees, preferably of about 60 degrees.

This film 9 has a locking element 11 at one end 10, which fits through an opening 12 into a space 13 formed by the profile 2 and hooks into place there. Since the locking element 11 is made of the flexible film material

and has a conical front end, it shrinks when pressed into the opening 12 and expands within the space 13 in such a way that withdrawal of the locking profile 11 from the opening is only possible under the application of particular force.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the outer side 6 of the profile 2 has a particularly large surface area and the locking device 12, 13 is arranged approximately at the height of the upper side 3. This makes it possible to additionally fasten the film 9 to the outer side 6 of the profile 2 with an adhesive connection.

On the lower side 4 of the profile 2, a further locking device 14 is provided, which serves to attach an extension 15 to the profile 2. This further locking device 14 consists of protruding elements 16, 17, which form a bead at the lowest end of the outer side 6 and the inner side 5 of the profile 2. On the upper side of the extension 15, spring elements 18, 19 are provided, which extend upwards in such a way that they interact with the protruding elements 16, 17 when the extension 15 is attached to the profile 2.

The lower closure 1 described allows, due to the special design of the profile 2, the extension 15 to be simply pushed onto the profile 2 when installing the closure and one end 10 of the film 9' with its locking element 11 to be inserted into the opening 12 of the profile. This makes complex screwing or gluing work completely unnecessary.

The alternative embodiment of the profile T shown in Figure 2 corresponds in

essentially the profile 2 shown in Figure 1. In the profile 2', however, the upper side 3' is extended outwards so that it covers part of the concrete layer 8. In this case, the locking device 12', 13' is provided between the extension 20 of the upper side 3' and the outer side 6'.

Figure 3 shows a third embodiment of a profile 2', in which the inner side 5" and the outer side 6" are greatly shortened. In this so-called renovation threshold, the locking device 12", 13" essentially forms the outer side 6" of the profile 2".

In addition, a downwardly open U-profile 21 is attached to the lower side 4" of the profile 2", which can be seen in more detail in Figure 4.

The enlarged profile 2" shown in Figure 4 clearly shows the opening 12" and the space 13" of the locking device and the U-shaped profile 21. This U-profile 21 has two opposite legs 22, 23, each of which has a part of a guide-shaped holder 24 at its lower end. This holder 24 consists of opposing grooves into which a strip 25 can be inserted. The legs 27, 28 that limit the grooves at the bottom are longer than the upper legs, which can also be omitted.

Inside the U-profile 21 there is an expansion band 26, the expansion of which is prevented by the strip 25 inserted into the guide 24. Only shortly before the installation of the profile 2" is the strip 25 pulled out of the guide 24 in order to give the expansion band 26 the opportunity to expand.

When the expansion band 26 is expanded and a 2" profile is installed, a sealing connection is created between the profile and the surface underneath.

The profile shown in Figure 5 is suitable for a door that opens outwards. Therefore, this profile has a groove 29 for a seal (not shown). Otherwise, the profile essentially corresponds to the profile shown in Figure 4.

The profile according to Figure 6 is a special development for the Dutch and Scandinavian areas.

Lower closure ( 1 ) of doors or windows with a profile ( 2 ', 2 ") which, when installed, has an upper side ( 3 , 3 '), a lower side ( 4 , 4 "), an inner side ( 5 , 5 ") and an outer side (6, 6', 6"), wherein a locking device ( 12 , 13 ; 12 ', 13 '; 12 ", 13 ") for fastening a film ( 9 ) is provided in the region of the outer side (6, 6', 6"), characterized in that the outer side (6, 6', 6") extends below the locking device ( 12 , 13 ; 12 ', 13 '; 12 ", 13 "). 2. Lower closure ( 1 ) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a downwardly open U-profile ( 21 ) is fastened in the region of the lower side (4, 4") and an insertable holder ( 24 ) for a strip ( 25 ) is provided at the lower end of the opposite legs ( 22 , 23 ) of the U-profile ( 21 ).
