Juicer Description

The invention relates to a juicer according to the preamble of claim 1.

A hand press for juice-producing fruits is known from DE 34 14 873 Al. This juice press includes two levers, each connected at one end by a joint, as well as a receiving bowl and a pressing mandrel. The latter are each arranged on a lever in such a way that the receiving bowl can be pulled over the pressing mandrel by a closing movement of the lever. Furthermore, the known juice press provides that the pressing mandrel is formed by a perforated curved base. The holes in the curved base are disclosed in DE 34 14 873 Al as running vertically, i.e. parallel to the pulling movement, and can also be provided with a gauze mesh.

However, this juicer has several disadvantages. The holes in the curved base can become blocked by solid particles of the fruit to be squeezed, so that the squeezed juice can only flow insufficiently or not at all. This can also lead to the juice being squeezed out of the juicer or even splashing out when pressing further. The latter in particular leads to a risk of injury when processing citrus fruits, for example, due to the acid content of their juice, if the juice splashes into the eyes of the user. The curved base, which is only interrupted by its holes, only allows an unsatisfactory juice yield, since the pulp is pressed and pushed together and forms a springy mass that reduces the pressing force.

Furthermore, the well-known juicer is laborious and difficult to clean, since pulp pressed into the holes during the pressing process, especially after it has dried, or fruit stones can only be removed by hand with great effort.

In practice, there are also numerous juice presses that contain a pressing mandrel with ribs running lengthways. With these juice presses, the fruit to be squeezed must be held very firmly with one hand, pressed onto the pressing mandrel and simultaneously rotated around the common axis of the fruit and pressing mandrel. Since the juice press must also be held with the other hand at the same time, extracting juice with such a press is not only very strenuous, but also very difficult. Furthermore, cleaning such juice presses is usually difficult. Furthermore, handling such juice presses always leads to dirty hands. It is also not possible to squeeze fruit directly over a pot or bowl, for example.

There are also a number of electrically operated fruit presses. However, these are very expensive, take up a lot of space and are usually difficult to clean. Even with such fruit presses, it is not possible to squeeze fruit directly over a pot or bowl, for example.

The designs of juice presses known from the state of the art all lead to people avoiding using them as much as possible and instead turning to ready-made juice products. 0 This means that freshly pressed juices, which are preferable for health, taste and cost reasons, are increasingly being avoided.

The aim of the invention is to create an easy-to-use and effective juicer.

This goal is achieved with a juicer according to claim 1.

The invention is therefore based on a juicer with two levers connected to one another at one end via a joint, as well as a receiving tray and a pressing mandrel, each of which is arranged on a lever in such a way that the receiving tray can be pulled over the pressing mandrel by a closing movement of the lever. As part of the development of this juicer according to the invention, it is provided that the pressing mandrel has an outer surface which is provided with at least one elevation which runs at least approximately or partially transversely to the pulling movement between the receiving tray and the pressing mandrel.

A further development of the invention is that a plurality of elevations are provided on the outer surface of the press mandrel, which extend at least approximately or partially transversely to the folding movement between the receiving shell and the press mandrel.

When the receiving bowl and the latter are pressed together to squeeze out a fruit contained between them, the elevations or bumps on the outer surface of the pressing mandrel form an abutment which, on the one hand, presses into the pulp and, on the other hand, when the fruit is pressed onto the pressing mandrel with the help of the receiving bowl, scrapes along the inside of the fruit through its pulp parallel to the direction of pressing, thereby largely releasing the juice contained therein.

Furthermore, the juice or fruit press according to the invention is easy to clean. Any pulp or pulp fibers that remain on the press mandrel after opening the press and possibly removing the pressed fruit half can easily be washed off with a water jet. This is possible even if the pulp residues have already dried. The design with the elevations in the circumferential direction of the press mandrel effectively prevents pulp fibers, for example, from sticking to the press mandrel.

Finally, in contrast to the known fruit press according to DE 34 14 873 A1, no blockages that impair functionality can occur with the juice press according to the invention.

According to a preferred development of the invention, the elevations are designed as annular beads that surround the press mandrel completely or with interruptions and are spaced apart from one another in the axial direction of the press mandrel. Preferably, three annular beads are provided.

An alternative embodiment provides that the elevations are designed as spiral ribs that run continuously or with interruptions around the circumference of the press mandrel.

Another possibility for forming the elevations or bumps is that they are designed as projections and are arranged regularly or irregularly distributed on the outer surface of the press mandrel.

0 Preferably, the pressing mandrel is dome-shaped to ensure a good pressing effect in correspondingly shaped fruit halves.

If the press mandrel is formed in one piece with its associated lever 5, a particularly simple and therefore inexpensive production is advantageously made possible.

The advantages of easy cleaning and easy replacement of damaged or alternative parts are achieved by the fact that the receiving tray is attached to its associated lever via a particularly detachable compensation joint.

A dome-shaped design of the receiving bowl ensures good and safe reception of correspondingly shaped fruit halves.

If the freshly pressed juice cannot or should not be consumed on the spot, or if a targeted or dosed dispensing is required, a juice collecting channel can be advantageously used, which surrounds the pressing mandrel at its base.

The latter version is particularly simple and inexpensive to manufacture, as the lever associated with the pressing mandrel and the juice collecting channel are designed as one piece. Of course, the pressing mandrel itself can also be included in this one-piece design.

A targeted dispensing of squeezed juice is advantageously made possible by juice dispensing devices assigned to the juice collecting channel, which preferably contain a pourer.

If the joint connecting the two levers is arranged on or near the juice collecting channel, a particularly compact and therefore easy-to-use and space-saving design is created.

In order to keep the pulp pressed out between the receiving tray and the pressing mandrel towards the juice collecting channel within the range of 5 pressing forces, it is advantageous if the receiving tray has an extension facing the juice collecting channel and adapted to it. Such an extension can be a

bell-shaped apron that protrudes conically from the receiving bowl from its free edge.

According to a further development of the invention, the lever carrying the receiving tray is formed around the receiving tray in the area of the receiving tray, so that the free ends of the levers facing away from the joint connecting the levers are close to one another when the receiving tray is at least essentially put over the pressing mandrel. This ensures that the juicer according to the invention can be easily operated with one hand. Furthermore, the juicer can be held easily and securely due to this design, even while the pressing force is applied with the holding hand. The plane of the base of the pressing mandrel can thus be placed in or at least close to the holding plane formed by the free ends of the levers, so that a slight swiveling of the juicer or shaking of the pressing hand only leads to an equally slight movement of the pressing mandrel base and possibly the juice collecting channel. In contrast, the holding plane formed by the 0 free ends of the levers in a juice press according to DE 34 14 873 Al is located in the area of the free end of the pressing mandrel, so that its length acts as a lever, so to speak, by which swinging or shaking movements during manual pressing are amplified and the resulting probability and effects of spillage are increased.

Holding the juicer according to the invention can be made easier and safer if the free ends of the levers facing away from the joint connecting the levers each have a handle formation. Preferably, the handle formations are formed integrally with their respective lever. An alternative to this are handle formations that are attached to their respective lever.

5 Preferred materials for the levers, the receiving tray and/or the pressing mandrel and/or, if applicable, the juice collecting channel are aluminium or plastic, whereby the mentioned parts are at least

partly consist of it. A further advantageous criterion for the above-mentioned parts of the juicer according to the invention is that these parts consist of dishwasher-safe materials.

Cleaning the entire juicer and replacing its individual parts is made easier if the levers on the joint connecting them can be removed.

In order to enable adaptation to different sized and/or shaped fruits or fruit halves, it is also advantageous if at least two pressing mandrels are provided, of which at least one is designed as an attachment to the other pressing mandrel or which can be optionally connected to the associated lever. This makes it possible, for example, to provide a version in which a larger and/or thicker mandrel attachment can be attached to a smaller and/or thinner base mandrel, so that smaller fruits can also be processed with the same juicer. It is advantageous that the elevations according to the invention are already provided on the outer surface of the base mandrel, since these can act as if to hold the mandrel attachment in a locking manner on the base mandrel, in any of the designs of the elevations or raised areas specified above.

It can also be provided that the receiving tray has holding and/or centering devices, which are particularly designed in the form of thorns. Such a thorn in the middle of the inside of the receiving tray is sufficient for a raised hold of a fruit half inserted into the latter. Instead of thorns or the like, serrations can also be provided, e.g. on the free edge of the receiving tray. Another possibility is ribs running from the free edge of the receiving tray completely or partially to its middle, which, like teeth, help to squeeze a picked-up fruit half or fruit in the receiving tray.

As already stated and explained in connection with the press mandrel, alternatively or additionally it can be provided that at least two receiving shells are provided, of which at least one is designed as an insert in the other receiving shell or which can optionally be connected to the associated lever.

Preferably, the pairing of the receiving bowl and pressing mandrel is matched in size to halves of lemons or small oranges, especially blood oranges.

Further advantageous and preferred embodiments of the invention result from the dependent claims and their combinations.

To further clarify the invention, a description of an embodiment is given below by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which

In Fig. 1 to 3, an embodiment of a juice press 1 is shown in perspective. The juice press 1 contains two levers 2 and 3, which are connected to one another via a joint 4, as well as a receiving tray 5 and a pressing mandrel 6, each of which is arranged on a lever 2 or 3 in such a way that the receiving tray 5 can be slipped over the pressing mandrel 6 by a closing movement of the levers 2, 3 in order to assume the closed position, which can be seen in Fig. 1 and is shown in section in Fig. 3.

In Fig. 2, however, the juicer 1 is shown in an open state, in which a fruit half, such as a lemon or orange half, but also a mango half or halves of other fruits or vegetables can be placed in the receiving tray 5, with the cut side of the fruit facing the opening of the receiving tray 5. However, a whole fruit can also be placed without restriction, for example, such as a kiwi or the like. It also does not matter whether the fruits intended for use with the juicer 1 are already peeled or whether they are placed in the receiving tray 5 with the peel.

The press mandrel β has an outer surface 7 which is provided with a plurality of elevations 8 which run at least approximately or partially transversely to the folding movement between the receiving shell 5 and the press mandrel 6. In the version shown, the elevations 8 are designed as annular beads 9 which completely surround the press mandrel 6. In the version shown, there are three annular beads 9 which run in the axial direction A of the press

mandrel 6 are spaced apart from one another. Instead of completely circumferential ring beads 9, those with interruptions in the circumferential direction of the press mandrel 6 can also be provided.

Not shown separately, but nevertheless readily understandable, are other versions of the design of the elevations or raised portions 8. For example, such raised portions 8 can be formed by a spiral rib (not shown) which runs continuously or with interruptions around the circumference of the pressing mandrel 6. It is in the nature of a spiral that it is not aligned exactly at right angles to the axial direction A ^of the pressing mandrel 6 in its circumferential course, but this is not necessary. The only thing that matters is that the elevations 8 in their selected form form a counterweight against the pressing movement when the juice press 1 is closed, i.e. when the receiving tray 5 is pulled over the pressing mandrel 6 with fruit placed between it. For this purpose, it is sufficient if the elevations 8, which, as stated, can also be formed by a single spiral rib (not shown), run at least approximately or partially transversely to the pulling movement between the receiving tray 5 and the pressing mandrel 6.

Further alternatives for the design of the elevations 8 are projections (not shown) on the outer surface 7 of the press mandrel 6. Such projections can be arranged in the form of a regular or irregular pattern distributed on the outer surface 7 of the press mandrel 6.

A spiral design and/or circumferential interruptions of the elevations 8 can make it easier for the squeezed juice to flow out between the receiving bowl 5 and the pressing mandrel 6, which are folded into one another and press the fruit half or fruit together.

As the figures clearly show, the press mandrel 6 is dome-shaped and in the present embodiment

formed in one piece with its associated lever 3. The receiving tray 5 is also dome-shaped and is attached to its associated lever 2 via a detachable compensating joint 10. This compensating joint 10 makes it easier to slip the receiving tray 5 over the pressing mandrel 6, since the relative movement of the receiving tray 5 and pressing mandrel 6 when the two levers 2 and 3 move towards each other runs along an arc segment that is formed by the distance between the receiving tray 5 and pressing mandrel 6 and the joint 4 of the two levers 2, 3. It should be noted that even without the compensating joint 10, the correct functioning of the juice press 1 when the receiving tray 5 and pressing mandrel 6 are closed is ensured by appropriate dimensions and designs of the receiving tray 5 and pressing mandrel 6.

As can be seen from the figures, the pressing mandrel 6 has a base 11, via which it is connected to its associated lever 3. In the area of its base 11, the pressing mandrel 6 is surrounded by a juice collecting channel 12. In the embodiment shown here, the pressing mandrel 6, the lever 3 associated with it and the juice collecting channel 12 are made in one piece and are made of a plastic that is dishwasher-safe. An alternative to the material mentioned is, for example, aluminum. The same material specifications apply to the other lever 2 and the receiving tray 5.

In particular, in Figures 1 and 2 it can be seen that the juice collecting channel 12 has juice dispensing devices 13 in the form of a pourer 14. The juice dispensing devices 13 can also contain a spout or nozzle or the like.

The juice collecting channel 12, like the receiving bowl 5 and the pressing mandrel 6, is circular or has a circular cross-section. As a result, in the embodiment of the juice press 1 shown in the drawing and described here, the pourer 14 and the joint 4 connecting the two levers 2 and 3, which is arranged on or at least close to the juice collecting channel 12, are

90° apart from each other, and the continuation of the juice collecting channel 12 in the form of the lever 3 is located exactly opposite the joint 4, i.e. is also at a distance of 90° from the pourer 14. This makes it very easy to press the receiving bowl 5 and the pressing mandrel 6 together, as well as to pour out the resulting fruit juice.

In particular, Fig. 2 and 3 clearly show an extension 15 which is attached to the open end 16 of the receiving bowl 5 and thus faces the juice collecting channel 12, at least when the juicer 1 is closed. The extension 15 is also adapted to the shape and size of the juice collecting channel 12. In terms of shape, the extension 15 protrudes conically from the free edge 17 of the receiving bowl 5, i.e. it forms a bell-shaped widening of the receiving bowl 5.

It can also be seen from the drawing that the lever 2 carrying the receiving shell 5 via the compensating joint 10 is formed in an arc around the receiving shell 5 in the area of the receiving shell 5, so that the free ends 18 and 19 of the levers 2 and 3 facing away from the joint 4 connecting the levers 2 and 3 are close to one another when the receiving shell 5 is at least essentially slipped over the press mandrel 6, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. Furthermore, the free ends 18 and 19 of the levers 2 and 3 each have a handle formation 20 and 21, respectively, which are formed integrally with their respective lever 2 and 3. Alternatively, separate handle formations could also be provided, which are then attached to their respective levers 2 and 3.

Both the joint 4 connecting the levers 2 and 3 and the compensating joint 10 are detachable so that the entire juicer 1 can be easily disassembled.

are, of which at least one is designed as an attachment to the other press mandrel or which can be optionally connected to the associated lever. Likewise, several receiving shells can be provided, of which at least one is designed as an insert into the other receiving shell or which can be optionally connected to the associated lever. The measures required for this are easily understandable to the expert even without graphic examples. This also applies to holding and/or centering devices, which can be provided in the receiving shell and can be designed like mandrels, for example.

Further design possibilities arise directly from the illustrations shown in the drawing, whereby all modifications and substitutions that are readily recognizable to a person skilled in the art are included in the present invention. Furthermore, the disclosure content of DE 3 4 14 873 A1 mentioned at the beginning is fully incorporated herein by reference, so that features that can be derived therefrom in combination with the present invention also belong to the scope of the latter.

Some details of the invention have been described in more detail above using a specific embodiment. However, the individual features and designs of this embodiment represent only a purely exemplary clarification of certain design options and are not a limitation of the juicer according to the invention, the features, properties and advantages of which are determined by the designs specified in the claims 0 and also explained in the introductory part of this description.

Expectations 1.
