Bei konventionellen Ski ist die Gleitfläche eben und an den Skikanten werden Metallkanten befestigt. Diese Metallkanten verhindern ein Wegrutschen des Skis bei Kurvenfahrt. Je höher die Kurvengeschwindigkeiten werden, um so länger muß - um ein seitliches Wegrutschen des Ski zu vermeiden - diese Metallkante werden. Durch die Verwendung des Mehrprofilski läßt sich bei gleicher Kurvenhaftung die Skilänge aufgrund der durch die Bauart bedingten längeren Kantenlänge deutlich verkürzen. Dies erhöht neben oben beschriebenen Eigenschaft die Wendigkeit des Ski weiter. Durch das Stufenprofil und die kürzere Baulänge wird der Ski deutlich verwindungssteifer. Die Verkürzung des Skis bringt neben den beschriebenen Vorteilen auch, durch Verringerung der Hebelkräfte, ein deutlich geringeres Verletzungsrisiko im Falle eines Sturzes mit sich.
