The present invention relates to the field of electrical connectors and, more particularly, to an electrical connector for computer peripherals.

In many countries, the power sockets are different, so manufacturers of peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, modems, speakers, etc. have to have several molds for producing different types of power plugs to accommodate different countries, which increases costs. Currently, a special adapter connector is used for each peripheral device to enable it to be used in different countries. It is therefore necessary to attach an additional adapter connector to each peripheral device to enable it to be used in different countries, which increases costs.

It is therefore the object of the present invention to eliminate the disadvantages of the above-mentioned prior art and to provide an improved electrical connection device.

This object is achieved according to the invention by an electrical connection device which has the features specified in the claim.

Fig. 1 is a front perspective view of the electrical connection device according to the present invention;

As shown in the drawings and particularly in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the electrical connection device for computer peripheral devices according to the present invention comprises a body provided with a plug portion 10 at one end, a socket portion 30 at the other end, an intermediate portion 20 between the plug portion 10 and the socket portion 30, and a power cable 40 led out from the intermediate portion 20. The power cable 40 is connected to a peripheral device 70.

As shown in Fig. 3, the plug section 10 includes a housing 12 in which three tongues 11 are arranged in a triangular configuration and which is shaped to be engaged with a socket 61 of a power supply 60 of a personal computer 50. The socket section 30 is shaped to be engaged with the plug section.

The connection between the plug section 10, the socket section 30 and the power supply cable 40 can be designed according to any conventional design well known to those skilled in the art and is not considered to be part of the invention. If it is necessary to connect a peripheral device 70 to a power supply, all that is required is to insert the plug section 10 of the electrical connector according to the present invention into the socket 61 of the power supply 60 of the personal computer 50, whereupon the plug 52 of the monitor 51 is engaged with the socket section 30 of the electrical connector. When the computer 50 is turned on, power is supplied to the power supply 60 of the computer 50 via a power cable 62, with the power supply 60 in turn supplying power to the peripheral device 70 via the electrical connector.

"Fig. 4 shows an application of the present invention. Since the plug portion 10 of the electrical connector can be engaged with the socket portion 30 of a similar electrical connector, a plurality of peripheral devices can be conveniently connected to the power supply 60 of the computer 50, thereby making it very easy to use.

characterized in that it comprises a body with a socket section (30) at one end, a plug section (10) at the other end and a power supply cable (40) leading out of a central section (20) of the body, the plug section (30) is provided with three tongues (11) which are arranged in a triangular configuration and shaped so that they can be engaged with a socket (61) of the computer (50), the socket portion (30) is designed such that it can be engaged with a plug portion (10) of a similar connecting device and with a plug (52) of a monitor (51), and the plug section (10) is electrically connected to the socket section (30) and the power supply cable (40).
