On the side of the picture carrier, i.e. on the side opposite the transparent front surface, there is a device by means of which the picture holder can be attached to various objects. For example, eyelets can be used to hang the picture on a nail stuck in a wall.

The disadvantage here is that such coarse mechanical fastening devices significantly limit the choice of objects to which a picture holder can be attached, since nails etc. are only suitable for insertion into walls, boards or the like.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a picture holder with a universally applicable fastening device.

This task is solved by providing the back of the image carrier opposite the surface for receiving an image fully or partially with an adhesive layer.

It may be useful if the adhesive layer only partially covers the back of the image carrier.

It is advantageous if this adhesive layer is designed as a wet adhesive layer, pressure-sensitive adhesive layer or self-adhesive layer with protective paper.

Particular advantages arise when the adhesive layer is designed as a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and can be removed without leaving residue from the objects to which the picture holder is glued.

Preferably, the transparent front surface is connected to the image carrier in such a way that an image can be exchanged in the glued-on state of the image holder by removing the transparent front surface from the image carrier.

The present invention offers surprising advantages. The adhesive layer according to the invention makes it possible to attach picture holders to almost any object without tools. First of all, this makes it much easier to "hang" a picture on a wall. Even if you have the necessary tools to hand, it is sometimes almost impossible to drive a nail into a wall in the conventional way, especially in reinforced concrete buildings etc. The picture holder according to the invention could be stuck onto such a wall without difficulty. Furthermore, any objects can also be stuck to the picture holder, such as books, photo albums, gift boxes or picture boxes. The picture, which is placed in a picture holder that is stuck onto one of the above-mentioned objects, can thus serve as a label or decoration for the object without the picture being damaged in any way. A picture holder according to the invention can even be easily attached to the dashboard of a motor vehicle. In this context, it is particularly worth mentioning that the picture holder can be removed without leaving residue if the adhesive layer is designed as a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. It is also particularly worth mentioning that a picture can be replaced in the mounted state of the picture holder according to the invention, which can be particularly useful in connection with the labeling of picture boxes or photo albums, and will also encourage the user who uses the picture holder for decorative purposes to replace a picture more often and thus make his permanent environment more varied. Surprising advantages also arise if the back of the picture carrier is only partially provided with an adhesive layer, especially if it is a self-adhesive layer with protective paper. In this case, a large number of self-adhesive strips or other surfaces can be provided, so that one has the choice between a high and a low adhesive force, namely depending on

whether you use a few or many of the adhesive surfaces. Remove the protective paper from the ones you want to use and leave it on the others. This has the advantage that you can protect surfaces by using a small adhesive surface. If you only use some of the adhesive surfaces, a glued-on picture holder can be removed and reattached in a different place by using other, as yet unused adhesive surfaces.

The picture holder 2, which is shown in Figure 1, consists of a picture carrier 4, which carries the inserted picture 6, a transparent front surface 8, and a reinforcement 10 running along the edges of the picture holder. The back of the picture carrier 4 is provided with an adhesive layer 12.
