Convertible seating/reclining furniture

The invention relates to a convertible seating/reclining furniture item, in particular a sofa bed, whose seat part and backrest can be combined to form a reclining surface.

In the case of such well-known convertible seating/reclining furniture, the fabric covering the upholstery of the seat and backrest is subject to wear and tear and, if necessary, soiling after a certain period of time when used as a sofa bed.

The object of the invention is to protect the covers of the seat and backrest over the long term when using the seating/reclining furniture as a sofa bed in a simple, cost-effective and easy-to-use manner.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that a double protective sheet is attached to the back of the backrest, which can be placed over the entire lying surface, and is preferably removable.

Advantageous further developments of this task solution are listed in the subclaims.

The seating and reclining furniture, which can be converted into a sofa bed, is equipped in a simple and cost-effective way with a protective sheet, which can be used when the furniture is in use.

as a sofa bed, it can be placed over the entire surface of the bed in an easy-to-use manner, so that the covers of the bed are protected against wear and tear and, if necessary, also dirt over a long period of time.

This protective sheet hangs on the back of the backrest and is attached to it in various removable ways, e.g. with Velcro fasteners, zippers or similar, so that it can also be cleaned or washed.

This protective sheet can be made from a variety of materials.

When placed on the bed surface, the protective sheet practically forms an undercloth, on which a bed sheet can then be placed.

The convertible seating/reclining furniture, in particular a sofa bed, has an upholstered seat part (1) provided with a cover and a padded backrest (2) provided with a cover; the seat part (1) and backrest (2) can be combined to form a reclining surface.

A double protective sheet (3) is attached to the back (2a) of the backrest (2) and can be placed over the entire surface of the lying surface, which protects the covers of the lying surface when used as a sofa bed.

The double protective sheet (3) corresponds in size of its two sheet parts {3a, 3b) to the surface area of the seat part (1) and backrest {2).

Furthermore, the sheet part (3) with its double sheet edges {3c) can be detachably secured to the upper rear edge of the backrest (2) using a zipper {5).

The protective sheet {3) can be made of various materials
and preferably consists of textile, linen, cork or similar.

Furthermore, the textile protective sheet (3) is preferably provided with a moisture barrier forming
Rubber or plastic coating or with an attached rubber or plastic film.

When using the seating/reclining furniture as a couch, as shown in Fig. 1
shows, the doubled protective sheet {I) hangs on the back
(2a) of the backrest (2).

To convert the seating/reclining furniture into a sofa bed (Fig. to 4), the seat part (1) is pulled out to the front and the

Now the double protective sheet (3) rests on the backrest (2) (Fig. 2).

Now the upper sheet part (3b) is folded forwards by 180° onto the seat part (1) -Fig. 3- and then both sheet parts (3a, 3b) lie completely flat on the lying surface (Fig. 4).

Such a protective sheet (3) can also be provided for convertible seating/reclining furniture where the conversion to a reclining surface takes place in a different way and by means of other fittings.

Claims (7)

Protection claims 1. Convertible seating/reclining furniture, in particular a sofa bed, the upholstered seat part and backrest of which are provided with a cover and can be assembled to form a reclining surface, characterized in that a double protective sheet (3) which can be placed over the entire reclining surface is attached to the back (2a) of the backrest (2). 2. Seating/reclining furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the doubled protective sheet (3) corresponds in the size of its two sheet parts (3a, 3b) to the surface size of the seat part (1) and backrest (2). 3. Seating/reclining furniture according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the protective sheet (3) with its backrest-side sheet part (3a) is removably attached to the rear side (2a) of the backrest (2) by means of Velcro fasteners (4) in the form of bands or dots. 4. Seating/reclining furniture according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the protective sheet (3) with its doubled sheet edge (3c) is releasably secured to the upper rear edge (2b) of the backrest (2) by a zipper (5). 5. Seating/reclining furniture according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the protective sheet (3) consists of textile, linen or the like. 6. Seating/reclining furniture according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the protective sheet (3) consists of cork. 7. Seating/reclining furniture according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the protective sheet (3) consists of textile with a rubber or plastic coating forming a moisture barrier or with an attached rubber or plastic film.
