Description Current state of the art

The range of items for everyday use in the care of the elderly and disabled is currently very small and hardly adapted to the actual needs or practical function. - Ribbons and buttons tear off - the material is mostly unsuitable. During the undersigned's research in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Patent Office, no application or recognition of a claim for protection for food protection could be found.

2. Problem

Eating, which is not a problem for a healthy person, is a very difficult task for an elderly or disabled person. If they can manage this without help, the soiling associated with eating means that carers and nurses have to spend a lot of time cleaning the patient, his clothes and his surroundings. Therefore, a specially designed and well thought-out food protection device is helpful, saving energy, time and money.

However, despite all practical considerations, the food protection must be designed in such a way that it does not affect the external appearance of an old and/or disabled person. -3-

In addition, the food protection must be able to be quickly put on and taken off by the nursing staff. Frequent washing places above-average strain on the material and the closure.

3. Solution

The problem mentioned above is solved by the invention specified in the claims.

Due to its special size, the food protection largely covers the area at risk of soiling. The collecting pocket at the bottom catches everything that falls down and thus protects the floor covering. Due to the deep neckline, the ends of the protective cape hang far back over the shoulder to the right and left of the neck and prevent clothing in the mouth area from becoming soiled. The cotton cuff can fit tightly around the neck. The foam toggle incorporated into the end of the cuff cannot deform or tear after many washes. The elastic band loop at the other end of the cuff is elastic and durable.

The larger model type b) is particularly suitable for bedridden patients. It is oversized and therefore extends further over the shoulders. The collection bag can be unbuttoned if necessary, so that the terry cloth protective cover is then enlarged to 70 x 125 cm. Both models can be used from both sides if they are well made.
