Rotating shelf-bed system for greenhouses, which can be used to significantly increase the cultivation area in greenhouses.

Greenhouses are expensive to buy and cause high operating costs (heating) - especially in winter. Nevertheless, cultivation almost always takes place on one level. In exceptional cases, parts of the greenhouses are used on two levels).

The reasons for this are obvious: the plants need enough light. In addition, they must be accessible at working height for ongoing processing and care (watering, fertilizing).

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of creating a rotating shelving system for greenhouses with beds (plant troughs) that exposes plants to light in a regular and uniform manner and thus significantly increases the cultivation area of greenhouses. This allows greenhouses to be used in a more ecologically sensible way: heating and operating costs are significantly reduced. In addition, the production and installation of the shelving system specified in claim 1 is significantly more cost-effective than building additional, new greenhouses.

These problems are solved with the features listed in claim 1.

The invention achieves:

- that the cultivation area in greenhouses can easily be increased to twice the floor area of a greenhouse (including paths) and more.

- that significant cost savings can be achieved compared to building a new greenhouse.

- that ongoing cost savings in operating costs (especially heating costs) can be achieved and thus a more ecologically sensible use of raw materials.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention is specified in the claim.

- By using outward-facing support arms (3), it is ensured that the substructures (5) with the beds (plant troughs) (4) swing away from the following plant baskets during the two 180° turns at the top and bottom and do not obstruct each other. In the case of substructures with plant baskets that are directly attached to a chain, this problem could only be avoided by leaving large gaps between the plant baskets.

- This makes it possible to adapt the cultivation area and any type of planting. Depending on the planting height required for the planting, a variable number of substructures for planting beds (planting troughs) with the appropriate spacing can be hung in the shelving system.

- A pleasant "side effect" of the substructures and plant baskets that can be hung on and off is that the individual complete shelves (4 and 5) can be moved anywhere on two conventional trolleys. For example, they can be filled with soil directly from the excavator or loaded with plant pots directly from the truck. The size of the individual plant baskets (4) in a substructure (5) can be selected so that they can be easily removed by one person. The "harvest" can also be transported directly from the complete shelf e.g. back into trucks.

Description

The free choice of drive types from claim 5 has the advantage that the most cost-effective and energy-saving drive unit can be used for the rotating shelf-bed system for greenhouses. The range extends from conventional petrol or diesel engines to hydraulic units or solar-powered electric motors and, if local conditions permit, to water "mill" wheels.

The variable dimensions of the overall system for greenhouses described in claim 6 have the advantage that the shelving systems can be individually tailored to each greenhouse size. In tall greenhouses, taller shelving systems with more beds (plant baskets) can be installed - the usable cultivation area is thus increased even further. In lower greenhouses, the gain in additional cultivation area is somewhat lower.

An embodiment is explained using Figures 1 and 2. Figure 1 shows two examples of the rotating shelf-bed system standing next to each other in a cross view. Figure 2 shows two examples standing one behind the other and coupled together in a longitudinal view.

* The framework for the rotating shelf-bed system for greenhouses consists of two metal beams with cross braces (7) at both ends of the structure, with gears (1) over which a strong chain (2) is guided.

* The cross braces on the sides and between (9) the two supports ensure a stable basic construction.

* A motor (6) slowly drives the chain with a strong reduction gear. The speed can be set individually by the user. For necessary work on the plant baskets (filling, emptying, etc.) the number of revolutions can be increased or stopped accordingly.

* To ensure that the gears on both sides run evenly, the driven gear is connected to the opposite gear by a shaft (8).

* The substructures (5) for the "shelf beds" (plant baskets) are simply hooked between the steel supports into the holes in the chain links using special, outward-facing hooks/support arms (3) and secured with bolts. The plant baskets (4) are simply placed in the substructure (5) and can be filled before or after at a comfortable working height - either directly with soil or with growing pots.

* The special outward-facing support arms (3) cause the plant baskets to be "swung away" from the following basket during the two 180-degree turns at the top and bottom. The height difference to the following basket increases. They cannot collide. (If the plant baskets were hooked directly into the chain, they would be obstructed by the following basket during these turns or at least the plant height would be significantly affected.)

* The "design" of the support arms (the distance from the center of the basket to the chain) must be at least half the width of the plant basket plus half the height of the basket up to the suspension. This means that the basket cannot collide with the connecting shaft of the two gears on the base frame during the upper 180° rotation.

* The spaces between the supports can be individually adapted to each greenhouse. The lengths of the plant baskets are adjusted accordingly. For long greenhouses, one or more additional steel supports with gears, chains, stabilizers and plant baskets are simply attached to the back of the system (Figure 2). The drive can then be carried out with just one motor. Depending on the width of the greenhouse, several systems can also be placed next to each other (Figure 1) and operated together, e.g. via another chain or with a hydraulic unit.

* The height of the shelving system construction can also be individually adapted to each greenhouse or to any desired size. The same applies to the length, width and height of the plant baskets and the length of the outward-facing support arms.

* The height distance between the beds (planting baskets) and thus the number of planting baskets is variable and can be adjusted to the desired planting. The basic grid for the distance between the baskets is the distance between the holes in the chain links.
