Biotechnische Präparate müssen oft aus Stabilitätsgründen lyophilisiert werden. Dieses Lyophilisat muß vor der Applikation in einem Lösungsmittel gelöst werden, welches in einem separaten Behälter mitgeliefert und vor der Anwendung in den Lyophilisationsbehälter transferiert wird. Dies erfordert einen erhöhten Logistikaufwand und einen zusätzlichen Arbeitsaufwand bei der Vorbereitung einer Injektion. Dieses System besitzt jedoch entscheidende Nachteile. Der Überstand über die Wandung hinaus führt zu Handlingprobleme auf den technischen Anlagen bei den zur Hygienevorbehandlung, dem Abfüllen und Verschließen durchzuführenden Arbeitsabläufen. Die Länge der Einbuchtungen ist abhängig von der Dimension des mittleren Kolbenstopfens, wobei diese etwas langer als die Ausdehnung des Kolbenstopfens in Richtung der Zylinderachse sein sollten. Vorzugsweise sind die Einbuchtungen 1,5 bis 2 mal so lang wie die Ausdehnung des Kolbenstopfens in Richtung der Zylinderachse. Die Anzahl der Einbuchtungen kann beispielsweise 1 bis 6 betragen, wobei diese symmetrisch am Umfang des Glasspritzenzylinders angeordnet sind. Vorzugsweise besitzt die neuerungsgemäße Spritze jedoch zwei symmetrisch gegenüberliegend angeordnete Einbuchtungen, um ein Kippen der Kolbenstopfen zu verhindern.
