Plant support

The invention relates to a device for stabilizing plant rods, which combines great stability with versatile applicability.

Plant stakes of various thicknesses and lengths are used in a well-known way to support plants in pots or outdoors and to help them grow vertically. The problem often arises that the plant stake is no longer sufficiently stable as the plant grows. The simplest solution, using a larger stake and ramming it deeper into the ground, is often not applicable: either because the depth of the pot is limited or because the hardness of the soil (e.g. gravel) does not allow it.

According to the state of the art, there are stabilization devices that work according to the following principles:

The stability of the support device is better the further the point of attack of the support is above the ground and the further the base points of the support elements (rods or ropes) are from the base point of the plant rod. This principle is used to stabilize tent rods or rod antennas, for example. If the point of attack of the support is in the ground or just above the surface of the earth, the support effect is only slight for loads acting higher up. In addition, an extremely strong connection must be made between the support and the plant rod in order to ensure stability. This again causes difficulties when adapting to variable plant rod diameters. Since none of the above-mentioned inventions fully meets these requirements, the object of the invention is to design a support device with high stability that can be installed either before planting or subsequently when required and gives the rod the necessary support without interfering with the soil and the root area of the plant. Nevertheless, it should also be possible to attach the support directly underground when potting.

This task is solved by a device according to the protection claim.

The main advantages of the invention are:

- easy to retrofit

- no root damage

- small space requirement above ground

- Usability of a support for different sized pots and commercially available plant sticks

- low production costs.

An embodiment of the invention is explained with reference to Figures 1 to 3. They show:

The invention is shown in side view in Fig. 1. The plant rod support according to claims 2, 4 and 5 is constructed according to the known principle of an umbrella rod. Preferably 3 to 6 support rods 2 are provided, two of which can be seen in Fig. 1. The sleeve 1, which is pushed onto the plant rod 6 from above, is pushed down so far that the spread support rods 2 touch the soil at the edge of the pot with their radial flanges 7 attached to the end. At this height, the clamping device 3 is screwed onto the plant rod so that it is fixed by the support rods 2 resting on the soil and the edge of the pot.

Fig. 2 shows a cross-section through the sleeve 1, which is pushed onto the plant rod 6 and clamped in place using a wing screw 5. Four support rods 2 (shortened) are shown on the circumference of the sleeve 1.

Fig. 3 shows the fastening of the two support rods 2 by a wire 4 running in a groove of the sleeve 1 according to claim 4.
